You can google for additional information, but I believe that...in most cases...compression socks are good for your legs, not bad. What makes you feel that they are bad for your legs?

I've been wearing Tommy Copper stockings and socks for over a year and they' re the best compression socks for the price. They are fairly easy to get on yet are tight enough to do you some good, but not cut off your circulation. When I was hospitalized and they put their compression stockings on me, I could hardly stand to keep them on. I threw them in the waste basket at the hospital the day I was discharged.

Whenever I'm in the hospital, first thing the nurse does is slap on a pair. They go up to my knee. It's to prevent blood clots and blood pooling. I don't have a diagnosis that would make me prone to either, it's just a precaution when flat on my back for a period of time.

There are all kinds of compression socks/hose.

Generally you don't wear them at night, only during the day.

Some athletes/runners wear them during the day but they are not the medical type.

They seem to have become a fad, or fashion statement. Don't wear them if you don't need them and if you need them, buy the right kind, not something off the shelf somewhere.

Why are you asking?
