I got my flu shot yesterday, along with a pneumonia shot. It was the first time I have received the stronger dose (I just turned 65). It was also the first time I have received the pneumonia vaccine. I felt fine, all day, after getting the vaccines, but holy cow, I am dragging today. I feel like I have taken a sleeping pill. I have never had this reaction to any vaccine before. Have any of you ever had side effects from either of these vaccines. If so, how long before you felt normal again?

I just don't like to get two shots of any type at the same time. I like to do one at a time and give several days, at least, between shots. Hard to tell if your problem was the flu shot, the pneumonia shot, or the combination thereof. Hope you feel better soon.

By mid morning I was dragging after dog walk, couldn't figure out what was wrong. Then it donned on me - 2 words - flu shot. I got the dbl dose, the one for 65 and older adults.

Ms Lady, this will/may last 6 to 8 hours then you'll be fine. This is what happened to me. I'm also counting my bad Tuesday as my flu for the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be really griped if I really do catch it (again) like I did last year from the germs DH brought home last year! Wasn't nearly as bad as he had it but I was on the couch for a day or so, lasted a few days too. He doesn't get flu shots because of his compromised immune system from being a 5yr cancer survivor. If anyone needs a flu shot it's probably him but he's then afraid he'll get the flu from the shot but we all know the shot is not IS NOT a live vaccine. Convincing him though is a no-go.

I still do profess getting flu shots.

The pneumonia shot (Prevnar-13) in addition to the flu shot, made my B12 shot less effective a couple years ago. So, now when I have to get the flu shot, I ask for the B12 the same day which makes the flu shot more tolerable. The fact that it sort of 'drags' you down shows that it is effective, that your body has recognized it and it is working for the time it encounters an attack by flu or pneumonia. Tolerate it. One day of feeling poorly is equal to about 1 hour of Strep pneumoniae.

Side effects may last 2-3 days. Take it easy.

i agree, it is not a good idea to receive two vaccines On the same day. Surprised that

they were given. If you were to have a severe reaction, you would not know which vaccine was the problem.

The possible side effects for the all flu shots are pain at the injection site, muscle pain, headache and feeling tired or a vague un-well feeling. As I recall, for a couple of days. So, your fatigue is quite normal. Generally, I have no side effects but last year my doc gave me the high dose flu shot and I had muscle pain in the arm I got the shot in for 4 or 5 days.
