3 years ago while taking a pan out of the oven, when I stood upright I noticed a floater in my left eye. A rather large one. Immediately saw my opthamologist and a retinologist who both said it was nothing to be greatly concerned about. The floater would either dissolve or I would just adjust to it . It has never gone away and it really doesn't effect my vision, but now I've noticed some smaller ones in my right eye. I have my appointment in a couple of weeks but just wonder if anyone on these boards has a similar issue. I don't have diabetes or high blood pressure. Do they worsen over time?

I've had those for some time. Now I'm sure the cataracts that were so tiny a few years ago now need to be removed.

It's time. It's beginning to affect my eyesight. Not looking forward to it. Only because maybe 3 years ago I had a torn retina.

Getting that fixed was the most painful thing I've experienced. I have had several major surgeries (double knee replacement at same time), major back surgery, and on and on. Nothing compared to that torn retina getting fixed.

So....here we go. I don't think the floaters have anything to do with my cataracts.

Got a dandy in my left eye about 10 days ago. Was extremely distracting for about a week but it's slowly disappearing.

In the past I had a floater that persisted for years, but it finally went away.

I get them fairly often. Some look like tiny bugs flying in my face...I have even swated at a few that weren't really there.

Other times, they look like dirty oil with black flecks floating on water. This type is distracting as they can be large. I usually see this type while reading. I need a light colored backdrop to notice them....like white paper. I have one of them in my right eye right now. It is large and getting on my last nerve.

My opthamologist said they are okay. She checks my eyes twice a year. They can also be a sign of a detached retina...I did have a torn retinal that required surgery, but I saw no floaters around that time.

I understand they are quite common. I have never had one that wouldn't go away.

I have floaters in both eyes. Had them for a number of years. I'm 63. Mine are more like dark, cloudy hazy spots that are more visible when I look at something white or bright like my computer screen right now. They kind of move around and don't effect my vision, just annoying. I think they use to be worse but really when I think about it maybe they aren't any better now but rather just a matter of me getting used them so they just seem better now.

I also have been taking hyaluronic acid powder pure form and that might be why my floaters seem better now. Just cant' say for sure but I think the HA helps with other thing, too.

I have one floater that's been there for years, don't even notice it anymore, until times like now when the subject comes up. I also from time to time get little flashing ziggy zaggy white lines, like teeny tiny lightning bolts that don't last for more than a few minutes. I can still see when I get those but they are annoying.

I had floaters in both eyes after my Macular Hole surgeries. I was lucky because my eye doctor told me some people get them after that type of surgery.

I am embarressed to say that when the floaters first appeared, I thought my walls were being invaded by an army of ants & spiders.

Took about a month for the ants & spiders to "disappear."

I've got floaters. Have had them for decades. My eye doctor checks my eyes once a year. That's it.

Ask your eye doctor whether or not they'll worsen or whether or not you'll get additional ones.

They all said if you follow directions afterward, not much to it.

I think a lot of people (myself included) are sensitive when it comes to eye 'stuff'....understandable.

I can't think of one thing that's good about getting old(er)...Ha!

I'm still waiting for the 'wisdom' that one is supposed to have when getting old....(so do you get a shot for it? Is it beamed into our heads? When does it happen?)

My brain keeps saying, "You're not old"! But my body says, "Hold on a minute....wait! I can't do that".

I’ve had a floater in my right eye for 3 years. It drove me crazy at first, but my mind has adjusted, and I forget it’s even there.

Floaters just happen, they are not connected to BP or diabetes.
