I recommend a dermatologist. At age 55, or so, my skin became highly allergic to all sorts of things. Especially anything scented. I have stopped using anything scented, dryer sheets, soap, you name it. When I get any sort of insect bite, it almost always turns into a severe rash. I see my dermatologist regularly,lol..

I am so sick of this rash. I believe I was allergic to a new dusting powder I purchased from the Vermont Country Store. Because where the rash is appearing is where I applied the powder. However, not everywhere. I used zinc oxide on it, took Benadryl, anti-itch cream because sometimes it itches and not everywhere. It is completely strange. However it is going on 3 weeks having this. I wonder because I inject a drug to suppress my immune system is stopping me from healing faster. I sent my dr. an email so I will probably hear something back on Mon or Tues. asking her if she needs to see me or would she directly send me to a Dermatologist? I am so sick of the itching and having to apply the zinc oxide. Oh, I also medicated baby powder with zinc oxide. Have you ever had a rash that sounds like this that is difficult to treat?

If the rash has lasted more than 21 days I think it's not related to the dusting powder. My son's all have allergies and unless re-exposed the rash should not continue to emerge after 21 days especially if using bsnadryl. I would go see your doctor. My kids pediatrician had a very thick book called The Book of Rashes. Can't tell you how many times we saw that book!

Go see the dermatologist - doesn't sound like an allergic rash if it has lasted 3 weeks and you are not using the offending product. I have rashs frequently and always go directly to the Dermatologist. I have a good primary care doctor, but the first time I developed one of these rashes, she misdiagnosed it twice, gave me a RX for a creme that was $60 after insurance.

Finally went to the dermalologist and by that time I needed prednisone to clear it up. I get rashes frequently and always go to the Dermatologist. Different RX's for different issues, but none of them were $60, more like $20 after insurance.

@Katcat1 I get a rash below my breast every so often from the heat. It would itch like crazy. I'd try not to scratch but.... the it would hurt from scratching. I used powder on it figuring it would dry it up. No such luck. My Dermatologist called a rx for cortisone cream, I only use it when absolutely necessary. I also use Aveeno sometimes when it's not to bad, which also works for my excema.

Now I have 1 bug bite for two weeks and it itches like crazy. I tried making a baking soda paste, Aveeno, aloe cream, epson salts, benadryl cream and cortisone cream. So far nothing. It's not swollen and I haven't been near any weeds or anything unusual. Just one of those things. If it doesn't go away in another week, I'll call the doctor but I feel so foolish just for this little thing. My immune system is always compromised and I have no spleen so that could be why it is taking so long. What a pain.

Feel better and take care.

You may indeed have a reaction to the new dusting powder you used. However if you are on an injectable drug you may be having a delayed reaction to the drug . Also some drugs that are injected like Enbrel [biologics ]cause a drug induced lupus rash. The medication causes it . Call your doctor. It could be anything .

cathy from ma

I have a rash on my shoulders and neck. I uses Westmore’s cream to cover freckles and spots for a wedding. It was awful and it had sparkles. I am using medicated powder. Bought it from The Q. Should send it back but through away the box.
