I have the beginning of cataracts, but I did have a cortisone shot a week or so ago. It seems like I am having trouble reading small print, quite suddenly, since I had that shot

I have an appointment for an eye exam in a couple of months. Can a change happen this fast? It isn't blurry but not a good as it has been

@cherry, the cortisone shot should not affect your eyesight, but it should be brought to your eye doctor's attention. I have had those shots all over my body and they did not do anything to my vision.

Cataracts can seem like they sneak up on you. Most people develop stage 1 in their 40's, with a gradual increase over the years. However, other factors can affect them.

I would suggest that you make an earlier appointment, if for no other reason, peace of mind, and let your doctor know about your concerns. Hopefully, you have an excellent eye doctor. My eye appointments generally take between 2 and 3 hours, which I call an event, but is obviously very thorough. Also, most people who wear glasses generally have a prescription change every two to three years, so maybe it is just time for a new prescription.

Two years ago I had an accident (both eyes) and right after steroid use, my vision changed. I developed Dry Eye from the infection and lost 10% contrast sensitivity. I noticed this on my computer screen (which I have to put on the darkest setting). I also developed glare and light sensivity. Not long after, during an eye exam, it showed I had cataracts in both eyes. This all happened within about a month or so. Yes, I noticed a definite difference in my vision.

Thanks everyone. I am not panicked. I think it is something very minor maybe I need new lenses

I am going to see if I can get into my Ophthalmologist a bit early. My eyes are tested every year like clockwork and I don't have macular degeneration, nor is my sugar at dangerous levels. My A1c just came back ,in the normal range..My cataracts might be growing ,or I need new lenses
