Tap Water?

Do you drink tap water or do you always filter it or buy bottled water? Many people that I know refuse to drink

tap water.

I used to religiously get RO from Whole Foods with my reusable jugs,

but I had issues with the jugs leaking. Just went to tap...

major difference in taste but can’t argue with the convenience.

I miss my Reverse Osmosis water.

Any suggestions for reusable jugs?

The Berkey seems popular for many...stainless steel home filtration.

Maybe that would be an option for me...

Any opinions?

I do not drink my tap water.

My supplier puts in too much sodium hydroxide.

They get complaints, then they ratchet it back for a time.

It's so ironic because we have such an abundant supply of good water here.

I got tired of toting bottled water, I use a zero water pitcher, not sure if it's worth it.

I'd like to add that drinking clean water out of the ground with natural minerals is the way to go but not everyone has access. Our bodies needs some of those minerals.

I drink tap water at work every day, but at home I drink bottled. Our water in our little town where we live tastes funny. I remember my mom saying that you get your vitamins and minerals from tap water.

Unless I absolutely have no other option, I will not drink tap water! I have a Wagerlogic purifier and it is the best tasting.

Yes - I drink our tap water every day. I'm in NYC and compared to other areas, I think our water tastes very good.

I prefer bottled or filtered water. Our tap water tastes metallic to me but I have been drinking it anyhow. I had a Britta but the pitcher got so grungy looking from mineral deposits. I will get a new one at some point.

I hate lugging jugs of water home from the store. Very heavy and then there is so much to recycle.

We have really good water here in CO so drinking tap water is no problem. We have water in the door of our refrigerator that is filtered and we use that. We also buy bottled water for guest and ourselves if we are going somewhere.

Completely agree. NYC has the best water. It comes from the Catskills and has a very good taste. Lived in NJ where I kept tap water in a bottle in the refrigerator. Cold it tasted OK. Henderson NV we have a reverse osmosis system. Necessary for the water there. And here in Chicago I drink tap water, not quite as good as NYC's but defintely drinkable. Happy I don't have to pay for bottled water.

I drink bottled water, mainly Zephyrhills brand. DH uses a Britta filter jug for his. When our old fridge bites the dust, we'll get one with filtered water on the door.

I think the issue is more than taste, but taste is certainly a big factor.

"Bad" water doesn't always taste bad

I grew up in the northeast, outside of NYC, back in the 1950s/60s and all we drank was tap water.

Pollution was very bad back then but at the time we didn't know it.

I do remember my mom telling me to let the water run for about a minute before using it. She didn't want to drink water that had been sitting in pipes, she wanted fresh.

It is also the reason the bread and bagels are never as good anywhere else in the country.

When I travel to other parts of the country I can always tell the difference.

When we lived in Pa we did not drink our tap water because we had to have a water softener and that adds a ton of salt to your water, so we drank bottled.Now we have nice soft tap water and so we drink the water from the refrigerator door all the time.There is a little filter in the fridge so it goes thru that but otherwise it is as they send it.And it comes out already nice & cold.

@sidsmom Currently I buy bottled, but for some time I've considered the Berkey. I've resisted only because of the counter space however if High Carb Hannah can do it...I have no reason to complain! I need to do more research.

We drink filtered water from our fridge when home. I’m not sure where the water comes from when eating out.
