Did you go for cosmetic appearance of your legs?

Did you you for improvement in Leg vein circulation?

Did you self refer or go on advice of primary care doc?

Did you get laser treatment or saline injections?

Spider veins or varicose vein treatment?

One of these days I am going to do this. I always have had lots of veins, but I have one place on one leg that it just itches so bad from the veins. I know that is one symptom of varicose veins.

Yes, I have, as well as a good friend. My PCP recommended a vein clinic, and going there was one of the best things I ever did. My legs were starting to bother me, and I put it off. They map your veins using Ultrasound and recommend the appropriate therapy. I had several procedures done and can say it is not nearly as bad as I imagined it to be. After the treatment is done, you wear a surgical stocking for a while.

If you have veins on the surface of your legs, there is likely more going on under the surface. This condition often runs in families, as it does in mine.

I've had several cosmetic laser treatments on my face to remove telangiectasias (small red dots consisting if tiny clusters of microcapillaries near the surface of the skin). Some have been more noticeable ( cherry angiomas) and look like a small blood blister, slightly raised on the surface. I have scleroderma and this kind of thing is one of the things that happens to the vascular part of the skin. I just go in every few years to have them removed because, frankly, I can't stand looking at them. They are not life-threatening nor can they become a serious problem...they're just unsightly and I hate having to constantly cover them with concealers.

I go to a laser clinic where there are technicians who are specialists and are overseen by an attending physician.

I'd like some updated info, too as I have both. They can be hereditary as my gram and my sisters had them.

I saw a local dr a few years ago for a visit and cost estimate. There is now a foam injectable treatment and they virtually dissapear just after the treatment.

Does everyone HAVE to get granny's compression stockings? I don't think I could suffer weeks of those at work!

My GP recommended a cardidologist because my ankles were swelling up. They did an ultrasound at the vein center. Turns out I have varicose veins in both legs. I had one leg done so far and it took about twenty minutes, very minimal pain. They inject your leg in several places with painkiller and cauterize the vein. No pain after. You walk out on your own, but they don't want you to drive if you take valium (they offer you valium before the procedure - I recommend it). My doctor specializes in this procedure - I would recommend asking around. The support hose actually feel good. I purchased a pair for $82.00 with no toes so I could where sandals. They are good looking and do not run. Don't skimp on the support hose. Hope this helps.

Wow, I didn't realize the itching was from the veins! That explains it.
