Hi @GingerPeach

Without a more complete evaluation, I could not give you specific advice regarding the reason for your back discomfort and what, specifically, you should do to help that.

I don't believe there is any general recommendation that if you have back discomfort (of any kind) that you should "strengthen the front".

I would have to see your movement patterns and posture to give any type of advice.

That said, barring any contraindications for particular exercises, I think Pilates is an excellent choice for overall core strengthening. BUT you must have the assistance of a qualified Pilates instructor to guide you. Just as in yoga (or in any type of training, really), you need someone who can view your mechanics through all planes of motion, something you cannot see yourself.

I had pain that started in the middle of my back one night when we were eating dinner. I thought is it indigestion or am I having a heart attack. The pain did not go away that night & got worse the next couple of days moving all over my left side of back, left side, waist & left side of stomach.

Went to the doctor & told him I was pretty sure I had Shingles but there was no rash. The doctor said not Shingles since there was no rash. He sent me to have an ultrasound of my kidneys, bladder, etc. Nothing there.

The rash appeared a week later. I had 3 little blister rash areas on my stomach, 1 on my side & 2 or 3 on my back. Did not look anything at all from pics I have seen.

The pain was from the Shingles which was excruciating.

This was about a year ago. My left side still feels like it's numb but it's not. It just does not feel the same as my right side.
