I think even this would be hard for 2 weeks no fruit and no bread!! I think after this people would go back to bread and gain all of the weight back.I don't agree with Dr.OZ when he said this is a lifetime change. Come on are you really not going to eat bread again! I can see giving up sugar because I did that years ago and that is easy.

One of the books Dr. Oz based his diet is on Wheat Belly, which I try to follow. The "two week diet" is the same as a lot of others- no carbs (low GI) and lots of veggies.

I'm not familiar with the Oz diet, but I hardly ever ate bread or fruit; I didn't really care for either. My diet was mostly vegetables, rice, meat, fish until I remarried and adopted the same diet as DH. My weight has gone up considerably because of it.

Over my life-long struggle with weight, the one eating plan I have gone to most successfully is some form of WW. Just as that company does, I try to keep up with the recent findings about nutrition, but overall I prefer an eating plan that gives me balance and variety. It looks to me as if OZ's suggested regimen is pretty close to what WW would have me eating.

It does work for many people, but as with any eating plan, if you don't find a maintenance regimen, you will see those pounds return. There's no magic.

Maybe this is a good way to jump start your metabolism but long term has "CRAVING" written all over it. I don't follow Dr oz but I quit dairy since most science now says it is the cause of inflammation. I started on smoothies recently with greens, berries, flax seed, almond milk/rice milk etc. I breakout a week before my menstrual cycle, hasn't happened this month Too soon to say for certain but my face looks clearer. Not sure if it is the dairy or the smoothies but I will keep up with the no dairy & the smoothies. I do crave milk, my favorite dairy product

Everything should be done in moderation, slow & steady! Maintain a healthy diet & exercise the pounds have to come off eventually. I don't have much to lose, just want to reach my ideal weight which is about 10lbs lighter That is the hardest to lose IMO, I have been trying forever....

I started this Sunday and have lost 5lbs. I stuck to it pretty much except I will have a cup of decaf coffee after my smoothie.

It took awhile to get use to the hot water and lemon. I like lemon but wanted coffee. I had my smoothie afterward but didn't put flaxseed in it. Forgot to get that at the store. Dr. Oz said it helps to lose weight. He also said that caffeine increases the appetite and most people do use cream and sugar, I do not.

The first day was fine since I ate more Saturday, Monday was worse I was hungry, Tuesday was better and Wed and Thursday I had no appetite to eat more than is allowed.

I made some spicy garbanzo beans and munched on them for a snack. They are really good and satisfy the crunch. I don't feel any hunger now. Was really happy when I weighed for the first time this morning and lost 5 lbs. I'm using this as more or less kick start to go on a diet I made for myself.

Three years ago I lost 40 pounds in 9 months. It wasn't really hard but the weight came off slow. I watched what I ate for 6 days and took a day off and had what I wanted. I gained some back and wanted to get it off fast and when I saw this I thought this would be a good way to start. When I get 10 pounds off I'll go back on my own diet. I maintained my weight loss for over two years but got careless and gained some back. I've wanted to get it off for awhile and just kept putting it off.

Dr. Oz said the second week we can have as much protein as we like. Didn't say much else. I think this diet is pretty much like the Stillman diet from the 70s. Tried that but my stomach couldn't handle all the protein.

Came here to see if anyone else had the same results.

My diet was mostly vegetables, rice, meat, fish until I remarried and adopted the same diet as DH. My weight has gone up considerably because of it.

Those darn men. I always lose weight when away from my husband for a while.

I didn't notice that you can have as much protein on week 2. I'll have to reread the whole thing. I wish black beans were listed. I would make my black beans. They are fantastic. Lentils will probably work. Why is no one use the Greek Yogurt with garlic and puréed onion as salad dressing.

I've always been told that losing weight too quickly can cause serious gall bladder problems. Although I am a Dr. Oz fan, I think his two week diet could make one lose weight too quickly.

Just wanted to check and tell everyone this diet does lose weight fast. I lost 9 pounds in a week. I didn't drink the veg broth and I didn't take baths. I stuck to it very carefully and I could feel the loss after about 4 days. Didn't weigh until one week.

I'm afraid that my appetite isn't that good now and I may slow down the weight loss this week. Sometimes it's hard to eat when I don't feel hungry. I do drink the green tea and the water with lemon. I had some chicken broth so hope that will work just as well. Even if I lose a few pounds this week it is still worth it. So for someone that just wants to get that last few pounds off I would try it. I don't know if I would do this long term but short term it does work.

18 posts, mostly very different from one another. For some, "moderation" (?) works fine, for others intermittent fasting, wonderful. Some people do very well omitting certain food families and/or groups. If I have learned anything by living the life of a fat woman for fifty years, it is that each individual fat person must seek out and employ the solution that works best for him or her individually. I am not, and apparently never will be, a moderate eater, so encouraging me to eat moderately is as helpful as saying "don't eat so much and exercise more". If I could do the simple things, I would never have been fat in the first place.
