Getting ultrasounds for hydronephrosis and ovarian cyst on Thursday. Doc says I could have passed the kidney stone with no pain. How exciting!!

As you probably know kidney stones cause some worst pain possible. My daughter passed a 7mm Stone.

Drs advise getting anything over 5 zapped with radio waves. She was in extreme agony. Sore for days.

It would be fabulous if you passed a stone painlessly.

I understand the ultrasound I am getting for the ovarian cyst is given vaginally. I've had plenty of ultrasounds but never anything invasive . . . obviously I'm not looking forward to this.

Also still having burning with the kidney infection even though I have only two days left on the Keflex (a two week prescription). Don't know what that means, if anything.

I may not be posting much this week, but I'll post when I find out what's wrong with me.

As per the intravaginal ultrasound - it is a wand they will lube it liberally then hand it to you to insert it so they don't hurt you. It is not large and it is not at all uncomfortable. It only takes a few min to complete.

I had to have yearly intravaginal ultrasounds for many years and through all those about 10 ultrasounds - I was always handed the wand to insert it.

That's just the way mine went! It wasn't the "do it yourself" version! LOL!!!

Have had a couple vaginal US - one the (trained for this type of US) technician did it and the other one, the doctor did it herself, wanting to see the results right away.

It was painless and doesn't take that long, not bad at all.

Yeah, that's why I don't believe it. The initial pain I felt came from the right and back sides about two inches under my rib cage, and then rippled over my lower abdomen. I watched it . . . it was like an eighth-month baby moving around. That part didn't hurt. The worst pain lasted about two-three hours and then nothing. Now I am hurting everywhere BUT there. I believe it was the ovarian cyst bursting and the microhematuria may be evidence of that.

I've only got two more capsules of Keflex to take for the kidney infection and I still have burning and weak flow, although my urine is almost colorless because of all the water I am drinking. I have pain where my diverticulitis used to be and my doctor insists I don't have diverticulitis because it didn't show up on the CT scan . . . well, they weren't looking for diverticulitis.

Also my left upper arm where my broken shoulder pain was last year is worse because I haven't been able to exercise it.

And the severe exhaustion continues.

In short, I am ready to give up. I am a mess.

@LilacTree. Don't worry....they will make sure the device is heavily lubricated, and you won't have a problem.

Thank you so much Cherry. It's almost not worth having a long life when nothing works anymore and every day is a chore. Chronic diseases are like life in prison.

Oh well, complaining doesn't help and I hate myself when I do it.

I had one years ago for an ovarian cyst. Tech inserted, likely the guidelines are the decision of the individual practice and vary accordingly.

It was not painful, but my first glance of the device was somewhat disconcerting!
