BtwYou need to call the doctor right away , You probably have an infection and if you do you need antibiotics now. My brother had this happen and he thought he just overused it climbing stairs , He had a terrible infection and was on antibiotics for 6 months after surgery to drain both knees , It was a horrendous infection and he remained in the hospital for over 6 months and through rehab was able to walk again . The doctors drained about 3 cups of infected thick liquid which looked like applesauce , Yes gross, Call yourdoctor. And yes this was in both knees 1 year after knee replacements .

cath from ma

I agree with what everyone is telling you. This is nothing to fool around with. See a doctor as soon as possible. If you don't want to see your surgeon, see your primary doctor.

I'm not trying to scare you, but infection can enter your blood stream and kill you. You are also in danger of losing a limb from it

Please think about calling your Dr ,or going to the ER

A close friend who had had a knee replaced 10 years ago developed an infection so severe that she was on IV antibiotics for weeks...stayed on the first floor in a hospital bed. Before the infection was totally cleared. She had to have gum surgery because the doctors felt that was where the infection entered the body.

She just had the knee re-replaced and is finishing up physical therapy.

Please get to an orthopedic doctor quickly. Pain is a sign that the body gives when there is a problem.
