So we went on this Fast Metabulism Diet, starting the first of November, No corn, no peas, no wheat, no dairy. Thought we wouldn't survive! Not even white potatoes, only sweet potatoes. We did lose weight, and still are, and are close to our goals, but what we've noticed, my husband has become consitpated, taking smooth move teas, but he doesn't have leg cramps anymore at night, which was almost nightly, he doesn't have acid reflux anymore which he had often. Wondering if it's the wheat or the dairy or both? We buy the Ezekial bread, that has sprouts, and I can use gluten free bread crumbs for making my chicken with saflower mayo, in the oven, which is very tasty. We buy brown rice noodles on line at Amazon, it isn't as hard as I thought it would be. I am happy that I lost inches around my middle, and clothes look great again! My husband went from a 36 waste to 34, and that looks great on him. His breakfasts used to be bread with cheese, that put on weight too! And giving up alchhol has helped too. My daughter and 3 neices are doing this too with good results. Anyone here on gluten free? And if so, can you share good results?

I have been gluten free for over 30 years, but not by choice. I have never lost weight on a gluten free diet. In order for me to lose weight, I have to do a low carb diet, which sounds pretty close to what you are doing.

The peas and white potatoes you gave up do not have gluten in them, but they are loaded with carbs. The Ezekial bread with sprouts you eat Is not gluten free.

i feel great on the gluten free and on the low carb diet when I want to lose a few pounds.

If it’s working for you, that’s great.

Yes, I know that Ezekial bread is not gluten free, but it's allowed on this diet. We can also have barley, which has gluten, so it's mostly gluten free. We are going by the book and eliminating foods that are not on it. I am not even missing the cheese or yogurts, maybe will try them again some day to see if it makes a difference in the way we feel. But not for awhile. It's a Fast Metabulism Diet. It's to get our metabulism working, and there are 3 phases we go through each week, designed to get our metabulism working. Need to have some snacks between meals, different ones each day, it's a good plan, and no counting calories or carbs or points like WW. I just wanted to share here what it's done for my husband so far and that is huge considering all those cramps he was getting with nothing helping before and he tired several, including the magnesium. I wasn't getting that so my results is the loss of weight and inches and that's good enough for me.

Several years ago I read “Wheat Belly” by William Davis, MD. I used to think eliminating wheat was just nuts. Reading this book was an eye-opener. I think sometimes it’s more than about the gluten. Wheat can cause all kinds of health problems.

i am surprised by the posts on here about gluten free eating. There seems there is a lot of confusion as to what foods contain gluten. Gluten is found in wheat, barley, rye and other grains ONLY...it is only found in grain products.

It is not found in fruits, vegetables, nuts, dairy, meat or eggs. It can be added to these foods by using flours and caramel colors, etc in the processing. Beer is not gluten free, nor is bourbon and other adult beverages.

Gluten is found in some medications and some candies like Twizzlers or Riesen caramels. It is found in some hard cheeses, not usually in soft cheese. It is found in some ice creams that contain pretzels, graham crackers or cookies.

Everything naturally on the gluten free list is pretty tasty. It’s only when you dive into the processed gluten free foods that it can taste awful.

I have to laugh when people say that they will not eat gluten free food. Most of the food on earth is naturally gluten free, so everyone eats gluten free foods. Some people also eat foods that contain gluten.

I do have to say, more often than not, the issues are not gluten related.

Most of the time it’s just caused from a very processed diet heavy

in animal product/byproducts, thus causing the digestive issues.

All the talk about modified grains, etc, etc. is just noise.

It’s not the grains, but the fat/oil, salt, sugar (all the processing)

added to those grains which cause the issues.

Funny, many people will begin to eat clean...low fat, plant based,

whole food diet...and all those issues disappear...even when eating

wheat products. “Gluten” is no longer an issue.

I went gluten free in August of this year because I developed a severe gluten into, erance. This is what happened: I dropped 10 pounds immediately, my stomach is as flat as a board now, all of my ay GI problems, rashes, fatigue were gone within a week and I’m no longer itchy. Like your husband, I developed terrible constipation. My doctor had me do the following which got me back to being completely normal again:

drink 10 glasses of water a day, eat fruit 2 to 3 times a day, eat 2 cups of green veggies at each meal (I found broccoli & spinach work best for me) and if you can tolerate them, kidney beans (1/2 cup) I make bean salads with them. I also eat only brown rice with my lunch and dinner. I totally eliminated eating the special Gluten Free bread, pasta and desserts made with rice, potato and other types of binding flours. Those gluten free processed foods made the situation worse.

By the way, I feel great without gluten.
