Does anyone know anything about GIST cancer? my husband was just recently diagnosed. Went for a pet scan and we get results Tuesday. No symptoms what so ever till tumor ruptured. mic rate of 15 /50 . I have been with him for 40 years since I was 18. Love him so much. also you may remember me posting about my nephew Eric age 35 and his mother. Chemo has quit working, and now they are doing radiation on his brain soon at Moffitt cancer center in Florida for 14 days. His mom also has 2 spots on her lung (after cancer surgey almost 5 years ago) but too small biopsy. I am overwelmed. But so little info about Gist and lot of info on the internet seems outdated. They are looking with the pet to see if there are more tumors, especially his liver. any info appreciated thankyou in advance. Wishing you all Happy Thanksgiving

I know nothing about this type of cancer, but I wanted you to know someone is praying for you and your DH. I understand your fear.

Everything will be ok and please accept any help the dr or anyone else, may offer you to cope with all this. I did not and it was a big mistake on my part.

I do not know about that cancer but I do know about being scared. I’ve survived two cancers and my husband has survived one. However, now he has Alzheimer’s and I am afraid about what lies ahead. All I can say is take one day at a time, corny but true. Enjoy those rare moments of joy. That’s all we have.

@brancare I have no info on that, but I pray that things go well for you and your husband. Take it one day at a time. I believe people live longer when they are as active as possible and have other things to think about than their illnesses. Rely on your doctors.

@brancare Like the others, I don't know anything about your husband's cancer but do know about being scared and didn't want you to feel alone. Please take the advice of your doctors and take the offers of help offered through different services and friends and family. You will need and want the help and support. My siblings and I did when our parents were ill and so glad we did. You and your DH will be in my prayers.

@brancare My friends GD has Gist Cancer. She just had surgery at Moffitt and is doing well. She is around 19 yrs old. She has a specialist in Miami that sent her to Moffitt who specializes in Gist cancer. She had a tumor removed about 10 yrs ago also. From what I understand, it’s very manageable.

Husbands pet scan results back- negative! so happy, but still scared at the same time. He starts taking Gleevec now. Hope it works and this devil never comes back. Thank you for your prayers and concern. It really does mean alot. How strangers can come together and support and care. Bless you all
