Jubilant Needs Prayers

Sorry it has been awhile since the last update but things have been quite a rollercoaster. Mom's recovery is not going smoothly. The cardiac part of the surgery went very well but there have been complications that are really delaying her progress. I'm not sure how much she'd like me to share but I know she's seeking as much support and prayers as you all can muster.

We are 11 days into this since her first heart attack and there is still not an end in sight. Mom's exhausted and so are we....which is why I haven't updated sooner. For any of you who have gone through this sort of thing either personally or as a caretaker, I have a completely new understanding of what that looks like from a closer perspective.

@SassyLassy Of course, I will continue to pray for your Mom to heal and grow stronger each day. I know that the recovery is quite stressful and everyone longs to get back to "normal". I told my Dad when going through this many years ago, to try to concentrate on getting better and as he went through each day, it was another day towards his full recovery and to try to look towards the future...as each day passed, it was once less day in the hospital bed, one less day in the hospital until his full recovery and when he was finally ready to go home, it was such a relief for everyone.

I will continue to pray for you and your Mom, I know that it's not easy watching your parent go through this, and I will lift her in prayer.

She is missed on the boards, and we look forward to her posts when she feels better - what a story she will have to tell!

Everyone I know personally who has had heart bypass, has had struggles and some type of complication by day 5.

Sending prayers for you all and the medical team. I know you are probably sitting in hospital chairs endlessly. Find some something to put your feet up on. Every little bit helps.We are still in ICU from my son's head trauma. In a week out a week then back in again.

Prayers being said for Jubilant and family. The first month will be the hardest, with good days and bad days. Tell Jubilant to keep positive and never give up. She has so many people that care about her.

I am so sorry to hear your mother is still not doing well after her heart attacks and surgery. Spent many weeks on the Heart Floor at our hospital, and fortunately, most patients do not have major complications after their surgeries. I have had 2 heart attacks, the first one I also had Aspiration Pneumonia, which was touch and go for over a week, plus. Made it back all the way, and then some.

Met many patients and a few of their families during my several long stays at the hospital. I've personally been on both sides, the patient and the caretaker for my wife, through her several difficult medical issues and major problems. Given the choice, I never want my wife to suffer, and would gladly switch places if that were possible.

Both sides are painful to so many others besides the patient. I appreciate you taking the time to update your mother's friends here on this forum. Sending my deepest thoughts to your mother, and also to you. The caretaker needs a lot of both physical and mental strength during these very unfortunate and serious times.

I lived with my mother during her last years as my 3 older sisters had married and had their own families. My mother suffered also from heart disease and I was here main care taker for over a decade. It was not an easy time, but I am just glad I was there for her when she needed me most. I truly understand that part of these sad times.

This has to be so hard on your family. I know you recently lost your grandfather. So much to be going through.

I am sorry to read your Mother's progress is slower than anticipated. Take it a day at a time. No two recuperations are ever the same.

@SassyLassy, when my father was fighting for his life and years later when my mom was desperately ill, I was exhausted and very afraid. I know how it is to be pulled in all directions and trying to do everything . I'm praying for your mother to get well and for all of you to stay strong. Please tell her we are sending prayers and hugs.

I am finally home from the hospital just yesterday! Thank you all so much for your prayers and good thoughts. I am most appreciative for them. The good news is my heart surgery was successful. I had my first heart attack Sept. 21 so it has been a long stay in the hospital. Two of my main arteries were 99% blocked and two were over 80% blocked. I ended up with an Ileus....which made me violently ill for quite some time. I got the tubes taken out of my nose and put back in a couple of times before it was all over. I ate my first solid food and had my first drinks (outside of ice chips) day before yesterday. My chest wall was so sore due to lots of vomiting. I am finding the leg pain quite excruciating. My poor husband and daughter are exhausted. I still am not able to eat much but they tell me that will come. I am thankful to God for sparing my life....although, I have to admit, there were moments when I just wanted to go! Guess He isn't finished with me quite yet!

@jubilant- WONDERFUL to see your post! Slow and steady will win your race- a little more each day, savor every small victory, figure out how to modify the setbacks and turn them around, then focus on your solutions and make them part of your new you!,

Oh, how great to 'see' you @jubilant. So glad that you feel well enough to post. Thank God for the doctors, your husband and your daughters.
