My dad takes it for an autoimmune disorder. I don't know his current dosage, but I know he takes it twice a day. Maybe 1000/500. He also is still on prednisone (low dose). He's been on it for 8 years. He doesn't seem to have any side effects. It is expensive. It is the highest copay.

I was put on it earlier this year. I don't remember the dosage, but started at 4 pills and was ramping up to 8 per day. Took them 2x a day. I have autoimmune disease and vasculitis. My toe turned red one day out of the blue. Had a ton of blood tests, CT scan, heart scan. Everything was ruled out. Rheumatologist ended up saying it was the autoimmune and vasculitis. I was put on cellcept. When I ramped from 4 to 6 pills, I got hives on my stomach and chest. Taken off and switched to methotrexate. I get hives with it too, but if I take benadryl an hour before the methotrexate, I don't get the hives.

Due to insurance, I can only get prescriptions through CVS. CVS only does mail order with this medication through CVS Specialty. I had to give them my life history and have a talk with the online pharmacist. They called me a lot checking up on things. I was a little unnerving.

I had no issues with the medication, but I didn't like taking so many pills. I also wasn't crazy about CVS Specialty, but that's another story.

My husband takes Celkcept 8 pills a day as part of his anti rejection protocol. He had a kidney transplant 11 years ago. He takes Prednisone, Cellcept and Tacrolimus. Every month he has blood work to check his levels.
He did develop diabetes from these 3 medications.

Thank YOU All! Very helpful. Fortunately there is a generic form I can get so it shouldn't be too expensive. My Rheumy is having me wean off methotrexate though I can continue Plaquenil.

Sounds like it's pretty well tolerated so that is good news. I got sick taking oral methotrexate so they switch me to injections and that helped a lot with the side effects.

Anyone get better results with this over metho? He said it could take 6 weeks to notice. At leas that's better than plaquenil which took 6 months.

Thanks again. 💕
