Fifty nine next month. Past year noticed creeping weight gain body aches swelling in my joints list could go on and on. You see thought this was how it was. Then one day hit bottom. Feel comfortable enough to share with you in hopes help someone who is suffering. Breast had taking alot of weight felt so uncomfortable last straw ordered 36I tight cup small. Of course, Belly was the size of woman who was ready to give birth. Made myself get on the scale. Last year 170 at my Doctors app. You think that would have bottom me. Like many i was disconnected from myself, back to weighing in tip the scale 184 pounds. Took off my clothes looked long and hard what my body had become. More importantly, I was very sick. Truly! Inflammation throughout my body painful knew it was only matter of time my life would be Mothers and GrandMothers. Both passing early 60's. Long story short. Immediately plant based and started walking working up to running. Realize my story isn't unique. Watched face and body change. Goal weight 140lbs. Speaking with my Doctor 5'5 130lbs naturally where my body is. Of course, Most can't or won't give up animal products. Encourage you try small change one day without meat or cheese dairy. In conclusion breast are shrinking. 34D and continue to reduce. Strength training and swimming breast stroke helped. My wish is- Don't buy into the idea aging has to mean weight gain or aches and pains. Sending positive energy your way. Today is the first day of the rest of your life.🙋

Thanks for sharing. My weight has gotten much better since drinking water all day - not as hungry. I too look at my family history - brother died at 29 - overweight - pneumonia - heart couldn't take it. Father at 43, mother at 59, sister at 58, my other sister seriously overweight and a diabetic. I feel blessed to make it to 65. I've always, always exercised (jazzercize, step classes, tap classes, running in my 40s) my entire life and I think that's why I'm in much better shape than most people my age. My body looks young, my legs are very strong. Very few aches and pains. Very little meat (only occasionally when I get a craving). Staying in shape makes a huge difference in how we age. I look at 80 year old women who are bodybuilders, or run a marathon - encouraging for all of us. Good for you changing your life.

@Sweet_Serenity- As I think we've discussed, I don't "do" dairy or grain or added nutritive sweeteners or salt, but I do "do" high quality (organic when possible meat, fowl, and poultry).

I love LOVE cheese but have it very rarely, usually as a garnish, because of the typical higher sodium content.

I am totally with you on the concept of inflammation, and have, of couturier lost a lot of weight.

While I don't believe that one eating plan fits all, I absolutely believe that there are certain things that no one needs or should set, refined sugar and flour being among the top 2.

Cheers to ALL OF US who have found healthy strengthening ways of managing the ways to nourish our bodies!

I wanted to add- I LOVE vegetarian eating and have veggie based meals often during the week, but not ALL vegan ( some though!).

I work for a company that promotes good healthcare. We are an employer funded pcp group in 23 states now.

We have all learned the plant based diet as our usual diet now. 2/3 of the plate is fruit/vegetables, 1/3 starch and 1/3 protein (which does not always mean meat)

We have learned to get protein from plant foods, beans, tofu etc

Although I have only lost about 7lbs, I FEEL so much better. I already drink more water than just about anyone, so that was NOT hard for me. The worst part for me is PORTION control!!!

I feel like this will be my diet for the rest of my life, however, when I go to a birthday party, I will have cake. When I go to a party, I will have a cocktail. Just wise choices when I can
