Went to Chiro that a.m. for relief. Much better, but still tender - next Chiro appointment in 2 days.

Maybe one could help you get some relief. Wishing you well.

@Patriot3

Not sure what "I threw my back out this morning" even means, and I have had 3 lumbar discs surgically removed, 1 just a few years ago. My problems were completely ruptured discs, thus they were removed. My Spinal Surgeon friend never says "you threw out your back", and I do not know where that phrase ever started.

I understand spasms/cramping of spinal muscles, caused by a traumatic occurrence/muscles with little flexibility, and many other reasons, including underlying physical condition/nerve spasms. Understand their many different causes, but "throwing my back out", I do not comprehend.

I understand Sciatic Nerve pain, and since it is the biggest nerve in the body, thus very, very high on anyone's pain threshold. My hope is you get pain relief and the sooner the better. I also hope your surgeon or Spinal Specialist finds the source, not just NSAIDS or Opiates that only mask the pain and do not remove the source.

Having back surgery just 7 years ago, I would hope you went to Physical Therapy to recover, and also teach you exercises to do daily, not just to help your recovery, but also to lessen your chances of future serious spinal issues. Those are exercises I have never quit doing since my L-5/S-1 surgical removal in 1974, except during my life and death struggles.

My experiences may have been caused by different reasons, but getting to the source and removing it, is only the beginning when it comes to remaining spinal health. For me that was and always be keeping my core muscles as strong as possible, and all rear side muscle groups and connective tissue, from the Achilles Tendon through the Calves/Thigh Biceps(hamstrings)Spinal Erector and up and through and including all neck muscles and connective tissue.

hckynut(john)

I would get back spasms that would put me out of commission on a pretty regular basis. Chiropractor never did much to help. Well, 6 months ago, I bought that Lori Griener lower bak trax device, and from the very first day I tried it up until today, not one single day of back spasms. I still can't believe it ! Not a single day of back trouble since !

If you havnt tried this device yet, I can't say enough great things about it @Patriot3 !

Obviously this wouldn't be long term, but this was suggested to me by a doctor. You have to get the pain under control or it can really get away from you. Do you happen to have Arnica Montana? You can take that every 15 minutes in an acute situation. Also, some type of rub may help. I hope you can get control over this. If not, it may be worth calling your doc and get a script for a couple muscle relaxers. That may be all it takes. OOPS, just read that you have muscle relaxers. I guess now, it just has to work itself out. Take it easy, but try to keep moving around if at all possible.

I wish you the best and hope you can go on to enjoy that upcoming wedding.

Glad you know what to do. "Threw out my back" is a phrase almost everyone uses? Guess those I know aren't aware of what I am guessing is phrase that says nothing. I have heard "I hurt my back doing xyz" and other more things pertaining to an aching back. That is a more common term that I hear around my friends and associates, those that are not in the medical field.

Hope your pain lessens in time for the wedding.

hckynut(john)

I'm sorry you're having back problems. I doubt the Fosamax has anything to do with it at this point. My doctor told me that the symptoms usually show up in a week or two with drugs like that. I started taking Fosamax a while ago and had horrible pain immediately and had to quit taking it.
