I tried to use capsaicin on the pain where I had the Shingles & it helps but was too hot for me to use. I found a product called MRM Joint Synergy which has camphor, menthol, methyl salicylate -- all cooling ingredients plus capsaicin--hot. It has been helping. Wish I had found it sooner. It's a roll on so easy for me to use. Works so much better then a ben-gay type product because of the added capsaicin. I tried the products that had camphor/menthol but it did not help much.

If you have arthritis, muscle aches it's worth a try.

I rubbed a ting bit on side & stomach. My skin was on fire. I did not think there would be a problem since I had used on my knees with no problems. My skin on my stomach/side/back is not as thick as it is on my knees. I had to wash it off, apply lidocaine & ice packs.

The MRM product only has 0.025% & the Capsaicin HP is 0.1%. I did mix some of the capsaicin hp in with some Beekman goat milk body cream before I received the MRM but the amount was not consistent.

ITA with a small patch test before you light yourself up so to speak.

First time I used the Capsaicin HP on my knee I applied it with my hand & went to bed. I woke up in the middle of the night wondering why my hand was on fire. LOL!!!

I have a box of plastic gloves now.

Yikes! You have to be VERY careful with hot pepper and menthol for pain, which can be caused by inflammation. Never put "heat" on inflamed skin or joints.

I've tried several things for arthritis, and I think Aspercreme is superior ..... about $5 a tube at Walmart, and unscented, so you don't smell like an old sick person! I'd say it reduces my pain by about 35%, which I consider substantial. I highly recommend it.

I want to try it. It has DMSO in it which seems to help with postherpetic neuralgia. Read about it here. http://www.eaec.org/health/what-is-dsmo.htm

Amazing what a chemical from trees can do.

The molecules of DMSO are so small that they will drop through the pores of your skin and enter your blood stream, almost immediately.

DMSO stops bacterial growth. It relieves pain. As a vasodilator, DMSO enlarges small blood vessels, increasing the circulation in an area. It softens scar tissue and soothes burns. When gently painted on burns with a soft bristle brush, it stops the growth of bacteria and lets your body cure the burned skin. DMSO’s anti-inflammatory activity relieves the swelling and inflammation of arthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, and other musculoskeletal injuries. Refer to Dr. Morton Walker’s book titled, “DMSO Nature’s Healer,” for many other uses and advantages of DMSO.

I stopped taking the gabapentin after a month to see if it was getting better. The pain was worse without it but I don't want to go back on it. All those pills the doctor gave me made me cough & wheez plus gave me brain fog where I cannot think so I cannot function. I have been looking for alternatives. I have been using light therapy, ice pack, Aleve, tried different oils, creams etc. The Aleve seems to help but I cannot take it daily. Tried to take every other day & my heart is beating too fast so stopped taking it 2 days ago. Plus all the different pills I have taken make me retain fluid & my feet are all swollen.

I know the product I posted about is for joint pain but the capsaicin seems to help just cannot use it as a stand alone product. It does burn at first but subsides enough where I can tolerate it & masks the pain.

My stomach is all swollen & keeps trying to spasm. It's better if I take the Aleve but I cannot take it every day. Makes my heart beat too fast. Since I cannot see to take these products for inflammation I'm going to try the CBD oil.

I do have some of the Aspercreme patches with lidocaine.

Back in the old days, before it was known that aspirin could become toxic when too much was taken, boxers in the ring would have their trainers use DMSO mixed with aspirin and apply it to their sore muscles to relieve pain. This application is still used today, however, caution is taken because of the possible aspirin toxicity. Back then those boxers would frequently have a bloody battle...literally, because of anticoagulant effect from aspirin.
