We have eaten this way for about five years now as my DH was diagnosed with high cholesterol and the doc wanted to put him on meds.I asked my DH to give me a chance to do it with diet first. It took about a year of diet and exercise but his range is normal now.We continue to eat that way because it keeps our weight in check and I believe that it is healthy. We don't eat much salt or added sugar either.I cook everything from scratch as much as possible and we eat organic, non gmo Whole Foods. We also gave up beef and eat only fish and small portions of chicken.

So glad you had a wise Doctor who let you try to adjust your life style as age catches up with all of our bodies.

One Doctor has said they have lowered the standard to give this medicine out and it appears like it may as well be in the drinking water.

You and your husband have taken good care of your bodies for many years now, and is something many cannot stick with for long periods of times.

I am happy to hear what you have said about your husband trying "your way". Now my question.

What does term "normal range", in relation to cholesterol mean, and "diagnosed with high cholesterol"? As you know, to me, and am strictly a "numbers guy". Arbitrary range numbers don't tell me much, as do the words "normal range".

I had a CBC ran by my PCP in mid February, and this morning I had another run by my Hematologist, but these were for different reasons, even though they vary as to why. My Iron Ferritin is checked every 3-6 months, depending. I won't get to final "numbers" until Monday, as those have to be sent to an outside lab.

All my doctors know I am "numbers guy", and that is how they give me my results, with numbers, not "ranges" called normal or high. Many more than just the 1 number many talk about.

Hopefully meds won't be necessary for your husband, and that is a good thing. Saw my Cardiologist last Tuesday and we talked about Statins, and specifically pertaining to me.
