I used to make tofu tacos a lot. They were just as good as beef tacos (better, IMO), but I had to use a little extra taco seasoning. So using seasoning packets I would use 1 and 1/3 packets of seasoning.

I need to get taco fixins next time I go to the grocery store!!

I eat soy protein (a complete protein, variety of types), a variety of beans, almonds, peas (crispy fried, lightly salted yummy) and quinoa...EVERYDAY. I also use de-fatted peanut powder in different things...it's so good.

I just received an email this morning from the Silk brand milks. They now have Silk Protein Nutmilk with 10 grams of pea protein. They have one with 2 gr sugar & the vanilla with 6 gr sugar. Of course it's not available where I live yet. I would like to try it for our smoothies.

I eat more of the oats, nuts, seeds on your list since I hate beans.

I use alot of this list in my daily smoothies---the nuts, seeds, oats also use black beans in a wonderful brownie like smoothie that is to die for. I use beans but not as much as I want to. I stay away from soy tho--not good for me and I drink almond milk but not the ones that have carageenan in them, which I think Silk has, that causes inflammation. Spiralina I would like to try.

I think the key to getting along with beans involves a couple of important things. First, don't eat canned beans. Buy dry beans and cook them until they are WELL DONE. I use my pressure cooker, no soaking and just rinse before cooking them. I pressure cook them for one hour, don't release pressure and let stand over night then remove the next day. The second most important tip to getting beans to be your friends is to eat small amounts...like 1/4 cup or less per serving. If you do this regularly I think you will find you may not get blown away.

I am so excited, I can't stand it!

Let me explain: DS is buying his first house and I wanted to get him something unusual....he and my DIL-who really isn't-but yet she is, love to cook....and they adore mushrooms....

So I thought out of the blue, why not get him a mushroom growing kit.... I hopped over to Amazon and found a couple: I ordered two oyster mushroom kits: apparently, the oyster varieties are really easy to grow with a high success rate.

Nutritionally, mushrooms pack a punch-but I had no idea how much protein they have!

Can you imagine growing prized truffles in your backyard? ...or Morels???

Some varieties can only be grown outdoors and four distinct seasons are needed-but it's so easy-and incredibly delicious?

Skids, I'm so excited- non-dairy yogurt and cheese making....mushroom cultivation.... I wish I liked wheat grass: alas, it's one of the very few greens I like....but I need to start sprouting.

Fun, fun, fun!

Poodlepet2

I used to make tofu tacos a lot. They were just as good as beef tacos (better, IMO), but I had to use a little extra taco seasoning. So using seasoning packets I would use 1 and 1/3 packets of seasoning.

I need to get taco fixins next time I go to the grocery store!!

I never craved to make *meat like* meals (i.e. veggie burgers, faux chicken, etc.

But some things do happen to turn out that way.

I add quinoa to spaghetti sauce and it's like a meat sauce. I'm not trying to make it like that, just how it turns out.

Tonight I had a simple lentil soup with portabella chunks, maitake slices and shredded oyster mushrooms. It was so hearty.
