topic Noisy computer in Electronics

My computer (PC) goes into sleep mode. (I do leave it on, perhaps I should shut it down) Whenever I start it up from shut down or it wakes up from sleep mode I hear noise, like something is spinning. Never heard it before. What might be going on? Oh dear, do I need a new computer. Not is the mood to get another one. It is 5 years old but has been updated once.
