I am getting a new macbook air and i need to save my data . Is Clik Free the way to go or are there other devices to use that cost less? I am NOT a techie!!

@bargainsgirl I don't use the cloud for my laptops. I use flash drives and save each folder. 1TB (& less) is available on a flash drive.

I guess it could depend on what kind of data you want to save.

I never use the Cloud, don't trust it. You should be able to do it by connecting the two computers via a USB or Thunderbolt cable or even Wifi although it might be slower.

You'll find Migration Assistant under Applications/Utilities.

However, you should also back up your data regularly on some sort of backup whether it's Click-Free, the Cloud, or a separate drive which is my choice. I just connect it and run Time Machine which only backs up the changes once it does a full backup.

When I retired I bought those devices that QVC sales to save your date onto to offload my work phone. They are very easy to use.

once u sign the new laptop to your apple ID all your info will be there

what data do you want to save ?

I used the wrong term. I actually mean back up. Photos and videos pretty much. Click free or Picturesaver are 2 i looked at.... As I said, I am NOT a techie!!

The advantage to cloud storage is if something happens to your house (fire, flood, earthquake, storm, etc.) the cloud data is still there. Anything you keep in the house is only as safe as the house is.

I use three clouds, Amazon's, Google's, and Microsoft's. Barring a nuclear attack, my data should survive somewhere. Microsofts, comes with my 365 subscription. Amazon's with my Prime. I pay Google $1.99 a month for theirs.

Thanks @gardenman I have Microsoft 365 and Prime, so I will have to look into what they offer for cloud storage.
