Ink Cartridges

My printer takes 1 black and 1 color cartridge. I don't use the printer for anything special and wondered if I could use just black cartridges.

ETA -- my question is can I use 2 black cartridges 1 in the black chamber and another black in the color chamber.

Depends on your printer. Mine won't work if a cartridge is empty regardless of ink color.

@coffee drinker My HP printer uses 1 black and 1 color. I have used just 1 black for a long time...works fine...

My printer recognizes black from color cartridges and won't work if the wrong one is put in the wrong slot.

My New black cartridge is in the black slot...My empty color cartridge is in my color slot...with no problem with printing for black only...But you have to have an empty color cartridge to begin with..Not sure if using for 1st time and don't have an empty color cartridge. This is just how mine works

@coffee drinker It depends on the model of your printer. Read your user manual and/or call the manufacter & ask them.

Thanks for the suggestions. I ordered 2 black cartridges and have my fingers crossed. I'll keep you all posted on my success or failure.

I had a black and color printer years ago, and found it to be more trouble than it was worth.

Now, I have a black ink HP Laserjet printer and it is ... knock on wood .... the best printer I've ever had.
