Anyone familiar with Starlink?

We are considering a change with our Online, phone and TV service. We currently use Breezeline cable system for our home phone, tv and internet but it is not reliable and it is expensive, and contines to increase. One we are looking at is Starlink because it will travel with us in the motorhome. Since we are having work done on the motorhome this week we are going to meet with one of the technicians about it, and getting the antenna installed. We get so frustrated with the television service in the motorhome, it's a royal pain to figure out everytime we move to a new area. And we really stink at electronics and streaming!

I live really rural and cable has yet to arrive, so I use Starlink for WiFi and Verizon for cellular.

Never have had an outage with Starlink, but I have a whole house generator so electricity is always on as long as the propane holds out.

They will give you access to their app which shows which way is north, speed, and MOST important, any obstacles blocking signal.

Line of sight is the key, buildings and trees are not your friends. I have moved mine sometimes for mowing or tree growth and it can be a little tricky.

You should consider your mounting carefully. I would recommend.

I have heard of Starlink, it's Elon Musk's baby. I don't know much else about it other than it's similiar to what I have. I have a mobile Business and have Cradle Point. It's 4G/5G internet that will keep you connected anywhere you go. It's used in police cars, EMT's, etc. because you will never lose connection so it goes everywhere. It's wonderful. It's fully wired into our Bus and there is also a small antenna on the roof. You just need to get a carrier, we used Verizon.

Starlink works very well. We recently used it in a remote area. Three of us were able to use it to work. We worked all day with no latency problems and the speed was fine. I didn't notice a difference from my normal Veriozon FIOS connection. We were all using VPNs to log into 3 diffrerent systems/remote servers for work. I was very impressed.

@YanksFan That's the big reason we are leaning that way, it good for the internet and TV,and we can convert the house internet and cable as well. Thank you for the input, it's important.

@KittySoftPaws We're in Red Bay now and the technician will be here tomorrow, we're prewired so Starlink may be the best bet. We almost converted last year and then again at the Tiffin rally in May, we just weren't ready to pull the trigger. Thanks!

Sorry no personal experience with Starlink, but just wanted to say that it must be good because I've noticed a lot of cruise ships have signed on for Starlink to provide their internet services for use onboard all over the world. Cruisers have raved about it compared to the "old" unreliable service.

@We rescue cats , my neighbours use it and are happy with it. They have a back yard "She Shed" at the lake and use it there.

How does the cost compare to cable? I should check with my neighbours. We have good service but it keeps going up and my complaint is faulty equipment that regularly conks out.

The monthly charge is lower than our current cable bill, but the outlay for the equipment is over $4K. So if we do it the timing will be next spring/summer, not today when we are getting ready to park it for 6 months. @Lilysmom1 yes, that is our complaint as well, the cable drops off at least once a day, usually more.

@We rescue cats Do you know what is included in the equipment? The price of $4k is high. Our Costco had something on special for $199. Not sure what it was but obviously not the equipment. Should probably keep an eye on this one. Prices usually come down eventually. Would love to drop our cable but my sports fan DH would not agree.

I can see why you have an interest if you have an RV.
