WHY DIDN'T MY "VIRTUAL VISIT' WORK?

I've had my Samsung Galaxy A14 5G for a few months now and seem to know what I need to operate it.

Last week I had a Virtual Visit scheduled with my doc, it was just to discuss my latest blood work, so I wasn't going to drive several miles in that heat.

My instructions were that I'd get a link 30 minutes before the 1pm appt. That would sign me in and we'd start at one o'clock.

Well, I could SEE my doctor, but I couldn't HEAR her. Since my volume had been checked, I didn't have any idea what adjustment to make.

So, after the non-appointment, I again checked my audio (fine) and went looking for "microphone". Couldn't find anything to turn on.

Couldn't find anything on this in the Owner's Manual.

I don't have facetime, but it was suggested "maybe I should get Google Meet".

I've never tried to talk face to face on my phone, so ALL suggestions are appreciated.

I'm scheduled again for Monday afternoon, and would like to be able to actually hear my doc.

The volumne issue might of been on their side

I know nothing about androids, but I have had virtual dr visits. It always asks me to give the app permission to access my camera and microphone. I don't do anything in my settings, just when it comes up the start of the call.

Did they check on their end to see if they were muted?

My PCP has offered a simple visit by phone call for an uncomplicated issue for years.

Should I download Zoom or something else?

I'm not sure which apps are commonly used.

@Tinkrbl44 Facetime is for Apple only. Androids use all others.

Zoom is very easy to use. I like it cause you can add stuff around the video.

Regarding no sound did you check your VIDEO settings? You did not make that distiction in your post. I asked this because when I use the video option, sometimes I hit the mute button by mistake.

Did you check the TROUBLESHOOTING section of the user manual?

Anything you use has to be used by the other party. They're not mix and match. I would probably call the Doctor's office manager and ask for help with whatever platform they're using.

My virtual visits have never required a download of an additional app.

But I don't have to worry about hearing / seeing my doctor on the other end.

The instructions sometimes seem a bit confusing, but when I follow them to the letter, the call goes just fine!

I would start out one hour before the appoint time just to have it all set up and ready!

I have an Android and I just get a 'notice' of what time and answer it just like any other call.

Are you using an older phone? All the newer ones come with that feature built in.
