ROKU and Spectrum App

I recently viewed a UTube video discussing ROKU and Spectrum's app. I am sure that he said you only need to have a streaming television, internet and basic cable from Spectrum and when using the ROKU stick you will have access to most of their channels, even tho your are only paying for baisc cable.

Does that make sense. If that is the case why wouldn't everyone with a streaming TV just purhase a ROKU stick and cancel their higher end TV watching packages and just purchase basic cable, which is less expensive package.

We are getting rid of a cable box that was on one of our smaller tv's in a spare room and using a Roku stick.

No it's not true. I have Roku with Spectrum Essentials and internet and I only get the basics. I only got this package because it is slightly cheaper than just internet. I just have a regular TV.

@kze Thanks, I did not think that made sense but thought I would check.

We will save a little money getting rid of the one box we have and we were offered a promotion, not sure how long it will last, but will take it for now.

I did notice when the app was installed that there were several different Spectrum apps. I should have taken my time to read what they were, did you notice more than 1 app?

We added the one we were familiar with.

No but I called Spectrum, I planned to cancel TV and just keep internet. The rep just gave me the cheapest one and installed it herself. They might offer one Essentials in my area. I'm in south central Texas.

I got rid of cable TV (Spectrum) and have a Roku. I have Hulu (which is expensive), Netflix and Prime. I had to have internet so I get that through Spectrum and they charge an arm and a leg. It's now $91 just for internet and WIFI. I'm thinking of checkin with T-Mobile regarding their internet service. I don't know anyone who likes Spectrum!

@sheetsheba We have spectrum and really have not had many issues, and generally good customer service, but the pricing is just getting out of hand.

Besides Spectrum our internet companies are very limited and most have slow speeds.

I was reading up on it but found it only works on a few streaming channels with Roku. They didn't say which ones at the time. I need to check back.

You will have access to the channels and services you pay for when you stream with the

Spectrum app.
