I was getting so many in my mailbox everyday--not so much anymore, but they would came with a download that I was to open --which I didn't of course, but I did send them as a phishing email as well as block them and reported them as spam. I do check my bank accounts everyday --but I always have, to make sure all is well, and I change my passwords alot too.

I got an interesting e-mail the other day that almost got me. It was from one of my nieces. It was an invitation marked "Sh!" as if it was going to be a surprise event. I opened that part but then there was a list of every browser and you were supposed to click on the one you were using. But then.......it also wanted your passwod! Had I known my password, I might have bit, but fortunately, I just closed out the mail and contacted my niece for more info about the event. By then, I realize how dangerous that might have been!

I have lots of nieces and nephews, so a surprise event would be plausiblel. Anyway, my niece's computer had been hacked and the invite went to everyone in her address book! What a mess!

In the past the common advice was to find the unsubscribe button and to click on it. Of course that no longer applies, as by doing that you are confirming that they got a "good" email and that email address will get sold over and over and your spam will multiply accordingly.

It is best to just send the email to spam folder without opening and then delete from spam folder. It's an everyday struggle for all of us who use email.

There comes a time when you just have to abandon an address. Hotmail is one of the worst offenders IMO.

For me, it is also imperative to have multiple address. Family/friends, financial, casual and most importantly one for throwaway folks. I have a Yahoo for all my yahoos 🤪

I unsubscribe from every junk email I possibly can. I wait a couple of weeks and if they don't remove me from their list, I hit "contact us" and threatened to report them to the FTC. Seems to work.

First I block/report spam. Then if need be I set up filters and that has definitely put a dent in them. I never choose unsubscribe. That'll just add to your inbox.

Some of them contain such nasty language. Makes you wonder why they would think anyone would click on it for more.
