Cell phone battery life

Just got a new samsung tracfone. My only grip is that the battery seems to not last so long-maybe a day and a half. I mostly text and check emails....recently went on a road trip and used Google maps for directions. Could this app be using battery life? Should I uninstall this app? Seems before this i only needed to charge every 3 days or so....any ideas?

I've had Samsung and Moto Tracfones. I don't use them much so leave them turned off in my handbag. One charge will last several weeks.

Map apps are the worst battery drainers.

Delete it if you don't use it much.

Other battery drainers include social media apps.

Do you keep your wi-fi and/or data on all the time? Do you need it on all the time? If not, turn it off. That will drain a battery very fast.

Bluetooth on drains my battery quickly so leave it off unless driving.

@bargainsgirl Something is draining your battery on a "new" phone if it has been doing so prior to you using Google Maps. Apparently, you have not gone through your settings to get rid of what you don't use or do not need.

My Samsung Trafone was purchased sometime in the spring of this year. It stays in my car-OFF. I've only use it to call an eatery to order food for pickup while I am out & about. Also, I take it w/me when out of town "just in case" but stays OFF.

I've only charged it up twice since purchase.

Yes apps like Google maps can use up a lot of battery. Is there a reason that you don't charge everyday?

I use my phone for texting, talking, photos, GPS, weather and my daughter sends photos & videos of my baby grandson almost everyday. I watch the baby videos multiple times and I find myself smiling and laughing each time.

I also put the phone in another room from my bedroom to charge each evening.

I have no need for a cell actually. I have cordless landline phones w/built-in answering machine in every room (except for bathbroom) of my house. Leave a message if you want me to return your call(s) when I return home.

Cell is w/me when I am out of the State I live in.

With my new Samsung I try to let the battery run down to below 30% before re-charging. Supposedly, doing that is good for battery life.

@Tinkrbl44 What is it supposed to do by waiting until it's under 30%? Does it give the battery a longer life?

My phone is around three years old (iPhone 11) and is still working great. I just assumed that most people charged their phones everyday if they use it often.

I'm no expert, but ... supposedly .... it helps extend battery life.

I'm sure someone here will have a reason this does or doesn't matter. Hopefully, lol.

Charging a phone depends on how you use it. If it's off in in your car, my guess is you doon't use it much. My cell phone is my only phone and needs to be charge depending on how I use it.
