Update your iPhone and iPad

News media is again today 9/8/23 urgently telling us to update iPhones and iPads, iOS 16.6.1 and iPadOS 16.6.1. Apparently there is another security flaw - that is actually being exploited by the bad people out there - that the security update fixes. Probably a good idea to check your devices and update if needed sooner rather than later.

@JanetsGirl Thank you for the notice. My iPhone updated automatically last night. I saw the notice this morning. I had no idea why it had done that. I updated my iPad a few minutes ago. Now I will check on my laptop.

I was unaware of the urgent need to update.

@JanetsGirl @Thanks so much. I just completed mine. This was a major security issue.

Thank you for your thoughtful reminder, @JanetsGirl!

I always install these immediately -- this one took only about 10 minutes (time will vary depending upon traffic, connection speed, device, etc.).

Reminder: updates aren't completed with the initial download and installation --

they also perform follow-up reindexing and other updating in the background to complete the process, so as a result your device might have performance or battery issues for a day or more following the initial installation.
