Tracfone: ? end of included transferable 1500 talk/text/data?

I just noticed some Tracfones for sale on QVC and HSN that do not come with 1500 talk text data. Rather they include 30 days unlimited talk text and it varies on data.

Anyone know if this is the new and going to be permanent way with upcoming Tracfones?

I have stayed with Tracfone for MANY years because I am a light user and the unused service transfers to a new phone. Unless I am upgrading a phone, I pay just @$50 a year for one year of service. That is the cheapest cell service in existence as far as I know. Without that benefit, I doubt I would stay with Tracfone.

@JGalt Wow that's sad if they phase out the 1500 minutes. They probably won't sell as many if they do that.

@JGalt - Don't panic. Tracfone has always offered (in my experience) the option to have a monthly plan or the prepaid.

If you go on their website, you'll see the different things offered.

Some of the phones can be purchased with either option, so you just have to make sure you buy the right one.

DH and I have the Moto G Stylus 5G phones with the prepaid 1500 min/text/data and a year's service. Right now it's a bargain at $59.98 (we paid double that). I mostly use texts and I've just added 3,000 texts for $15.

But you can also get that phone with a monthly plan. Which plan is best for you, really depends on your useage.

@Venezia hmmm, hope you're right. I've shopped QVC and HSN for at least 3 decades and never seen Tracfones for sale with only a month unlimited plan. I realize one has options on plans when one is paying for service at Tracfone.com, like my great $50 a year plan.

The minutes/service time carrying over month to month is a huge advantage of Tracfone. With my iPad plan at ATT, and another plan I used to have with Verizon for a hotspot type device, unused service died each month.

@JGalt - I can only tell you what I know about Tracfone (as sold on QVC, HSN and the Tracfone site).

The only cell phones we've ever had, since moving back to the U.S., are our Tracfones - over 22 years now.

A friend of mine (and her DH) also has Tracfone and has for pretty much the same length of time. She's always preferred the monthly plan instead of the prepaid. So it's been there for at least that long.

I can't imagine why they would do away with something so successful but, the day they do - if they do - we'll all have to go with something else.

After I posted earlier, I did a search for Tracfone on QVC and came up with something like 47 - most of them prepaid, like ours. I think they're just trying to offer people a choice.
