Can anyone tell if this is a good laptop QVC is offering? I'm not a techie so if you could advise me I would really appreciate it.

@Jordan2 - I can't comment on today's offer, but we love HP and that's all we have (desktop and laptop), other than iPads for tablets.

I have an HP laptop that is over 15 years old and still works. (I bought it from Sam's Club). I do need to replace the battery (gave out after 10 years), but I just use the AC adapter, when I want to use it.

I'd look around to see what other retailers are charging for similar specifications and then decide. If you don't do a lot of memory-intensive work, the TSV should be fine for anything you'd do on a normal basis. JMO.

(And I will add that even I was tempted to buy the TSV to replace my existing laptop. I just don't need it though.)

Sit back and make a list first.

Need a new printer?

Use Office?

Use a mouse?

Use a numeric keypad?

Then list wants.

Require a touchscreen?

A Celeron is an old processer, regardless of the model. The only place I thought they were was in Chromebooks for elementary school.

Just for me, I would not go near this. Take a walk around some stores and ask questions. Then look online.

I NEVER buy electronics without actually seeing and trying it out. I will buy clothing etc but not electronics. It has to work and it has to work for ME. And I need advice for what I NEED.

@Still Raining @Jordan2 - I was just looking at that (Celeron) compared to other offerings at places like Sam's Club. Also, in the Q&A, someone asks if it's a "i" model. It is not.

And I'd want to know about the warranty - I can't see it mentioned anywhere, other than paying more for one with Allstate.

Personally, I prefer to buy locally so that, if something goes wrong, I'm not dealing with a distant entity. But that's just me; it may not bother others.

With all of my Sam's Club purchases (TVs, computers, iPad) I got at least a two-year warranty or in many cases 3-year. On my two new TVs I got 5-year warranties (no extra cost).

It pays to shop around and not impulse buy, and also to know exactly what you're looking for and need.

"The Celeron is not considered a performance processor, sitting below the Pentium family and well below the Core i3, which is a low-end performance processor. The Celeron is designed for budget and budget only. Accordingly, turbo boost is generally not significant or present, and most Celerons are dual-core only.

They also lack helpful features like hyper-threading, and have generally low performance per mhz, resulting in PassMark scores of below 1500 for most models.

Nicknamed the "DeCeleron", the Celeron is ok for basic tasks like word processing, light web browsing and email, and editing of low-resolution photos, but very few applications run smoothly - the lag is real! Browsing fancy websites can be quite tricky, and streaming even decent quality video is a lot to ask. As for gaming? Don't even think about it."

I'm going to pass on this. I don't want the "extras", I rather pay just for the computer, I can get my own mouse and sleeve if I want ( I don't need the printer, mine is more streamlined, this one is clunky).

I purchased this version from HSN 3 1/2 years ago and I love it. I paid $300 more than what this tsv is. I have never had any issues with it. I am very tempted to order this one as a back up especially for the price.

I was very close to ordering last night and even called to see if I could get on the air. lol I did get a woman that tried to answer questions for me but since I didn't buy one I couldn't get past her.

I have always had HP which I love and the one I have now was given to me but little did I know someone had switched the windows to a chromebook and I hate it.

I do need a printer and I love the bigger screen with the numeric on the side which I don't have now.

I want a good one though. I also want a touchpad, I haven't used a mouse for years. I have always had a core i3 or i5.

I would also have to hire someone to change my stuff back to the new one. It's not something I can do by myself anymore.

So I'll pass for now. I was so close...

Check your local stores they usually start having good deals around this time of year with kids going back to school. I have an HP laptop that I got at Staples a few years ago for under $400. I wanted a 17 inch screen and they had the best price.
