Check around, there are websites that list the strength and direction of over the air stations in your area. This will mandate the correct placement of the antenna.

For me, I have to really angle them correctly to get anything. Sometimes it depends on the weather too.

Looking for a good antenna so I can drop cable. Do indoor work as well as outdoor? I would prefer indoor or by a window. Do you need one for each tv or each level of your home?

Ditched cable about 3 years ago when it got cost prohibitive. Went to Best Buy and grabbed four 25$ "bunny ear" antennas. Hooked the to back of tv and get all the local stations here and a few more. About 27 total and that's all I need from network tv. We have roku tvs and get so many free movies, shows, etc. Also have Netflix and Hulu and that's enough. We have tv on the cheap. My son who lives with us has a peacock account so we have that too for now. Love it...do not miss cable at all.

Last month I replaced two indoor antennas. I discovered a manufacturer JASCO, located in Oklahoma City. The antennas are good quality at their price point. There's a lot of junk out there. Also their customer service, to help you pick one out, is smart and friendly. Highly recommend.

ByJasco dot com 855-527-2687

Depends on where you live? Do you live in a larger City or within 30 miles of your broadcast stations? If you are an indoor antenna should work. My SIL said she put one of those flat antenna's on the wall so she can pick up her stations.

We live over 100 miles from ours so we use an outdoor antenna to receive our local stations. Our antenna was working sitting on the ground before DH installed it on a pole.

I checked some of these sites that show which stations you can receive but they show we cannot receive our local channels but we do?

I am close to our local transmitters which are just across the valley on a 10,300ft mountain. Since I have ideal conditions, I use a Modu Antenna for which I paid $12. on Amazon. I get beautiful reception of maybe 40 channels.

You need an antenna for each TV .

They're all pretty good these days. Location matters a lot. My $30 Amazon antenna gave me the same 93 channels I got with my big rooftop antennas at my old home. It was about twelve feet above the ground in a south-facing window. In my apartment, about three miles from my old home in a southeast facing window maybe six feet off the ground I get 37 channels. The same antenna and TV. I lost 56 channels and the signal strength is markedly worse on the channels I still get. It's pretty impressive how a relatively small relocation can change reception as much as it does.

If you live in a valley and are surrounded by mountains, antennas don't work. Also if you live near a big hill, plateau or mountain which sits between you and the broadcasting transmitters then your reception might not be all that good if you get any reception at all.

Tv transmission is done by 'line-of-sight'.
