Kindle vs Kobo

I have always had Kindle ereaders. I see that Kobo now has Kobo Plus, which seems similar to Amazon's Kindle Unlimited. For anyone who has a Kobo ereader, what are the plus and minuses about them? Does anyone know if you can use a gift card instead of a credit card on file to pay for Kobo Plus? TIA

@Toot1920 , I have Kobo. I live in Canada. The main reason I bought it was because our library system does not support Kindle. It supports Kobo. It used to support Sony and Sony had one of the best readers out there. Kobo fixed that. They bought Sony and put them out of business. LM
