What To Look For In A Laptop

I have a Chromebook that will end it's life expectancy in June (I didn't even know that was a thing)! I will be in the market for a new laptop ( no more Chromebooks for me), I'm an HP gal. I'm not tech savvy and could use help as to what I should buy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I enjoy using my MacBook. I am not computer savvy, but it is very user friendly.

You might want to research computers on CNET. I think this is best source for info that's very impartial and smart. There are no easy answers because it largely depends on what your needs are and how you intend to use it. I'm partial to Dell computers myself, but I also recently bought an Asus computer on Amazon to use exclusively for my photography management and editing, etc. I also have a Mac (a gift to me from someone) but I personally hate Macs. Many people love them, but I'm definitely not one of them.

Buy as much hard drive space, memory and processor speed you an afford. You won't need top of the line if a casual user but, you don't want a "bargain basement" model either. Before I switched to Apple, I owned HP computers and was very happy with them. But, that was years ago and I can't vouch for their quality now.

There is a website where you can take a 'quiz' to see what your best option(s) would be for a laptop suited for your needs.

You will want the latest technology, adequate memory and storage, and a sufficient number of ports (for things of yours that aren't wireless, like mouse, printer, and DVD player). Aside from those, I like (1) a numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard, (2) the ability to connect the laptop directly to the router (many laptops don't, forcing you to work wirelessly), and (3) a backlit keyboard (it helps if the lighting is bad). Don't you work in a school? Apple has great "educational" discounts as well as many other discounts. They are only listed on their vast website.

@Jordan2 My DH and I currently have a MacBook Air. We have always had Apple products for our home computers and cell phones. I have a PC in my office. I am not very tech savvy although I manage to get by. That being said, the Apple products, IMHO, are much more user friendly.

@Mz iMac I'm a school monitor, I'm not really sure discounts would apply for me.

I look for the Apple logo. Really can't go wrong.
