I'm an Apple Watch Believer :)

I've only been using the Apple Watch Series 8 for a little over a month and now I ask myself "what took you so long?" Probably because I thought the watch is for fitness tracker. Nope. That's not a feature I even have enabled.

I have the 41mm (wish I got the 45mm) starlight aluminum Series 8 with cellular.

We only have cell phones and I usually never take my phone from room to room so often times I do not hear when someone's calling. Now, with the watch I see/hear immediately who's texting or calling me. No need to take my phone when out gardening, checking mail, going on short errands.

I'm still learning/discovering new uses for the watch. My cheat is using Siri: Siri, set the timer for 30 minutes; Siri, call home.

About 2 hours ago I fell outside. The watch detected the fall and asked me if I'm okay (yes just stunned and knee scrape).

The one thing Apple must improve is the battery life. I have to charge it every night.

I'm glad I got the cellular model.

@Runner26 The Apple Watches are truly marvels of engineering. We have a poster who discovered a serious medical condition as a result of data she received from her watch.

Its too bad that they plus the required accompanying Apple computer are such a financial investment that many people can't afford to own one. There are now many "knock-offs" on the market but none seem to have all the features of the Apple Watch and, at less than $100, are of questionable quality.

My family is"never Apple" (I did buy and use Apple products 25 yrs ago). We primarily buy Samsung products (including smart phones, tablets and a smart watch). My younger Son did buy Apple earbuds 2 years ago but ruined them when he jumped in our pool. At that time he couldn't afford another Apple set so he tried (and loved) A set of our Tozo buds. He loves them and we keep extras on hand (currently $15.99 A pair on Amazon). Part of Apples appeal to many is that its perceived as"the best"but not always.

My husband is sometimes unsteady on his feet. We specifically each got the watch because he spends alot of time in the garden and Im inside. In case he fell, I wanted to know. He has fallen twice and they always ask if he needs help. There's so much it can do we havent even scratched the surface. Learning more everyday.

I don't own anything Apple.

My cell phone sounds are silenced when I'm working at home. I can't imagine a life where I have to take devices from room to room or for a walk to get the mail. 🙄

I quit seeing the manicurist at my nail salon because she couldn't stop talking to her watch long enough to talk to me about my nails.

I'm with you 1000% I have only had mine for a couple of months and use it as you do. I feel safer. My kids insist I war it all night in case I wake up for a bathroom break and could fall when half asleep. It charges fairly quickly so I charge while watching TV or reading before bed.

I also don't have to have my cell phone with me all the time but never miss anything. Of course I would never leave home without my phone. The small screen does have it's limitations. Prefer the larger screen for reading emails. Enjoy

I agree. I bought the version 3 years ago and it's still working fine but I just upgraded to the Ultra. It's even bigger than my first one and I love seeing the notifications come through. I work out a lot and use the fitness tracker daily. The Ultra has some features I'll probably never use but I love it. It has a siren you can activate if you feel unsafe and it says you can hear it from 600 feet away.

I absolutely love my Apple Watch! I'm now on my third or fourth one. It's one of those things that I honestly don't know how I ever lived without it! It is 100% essential now. I'd give up my refrigerator before I'd give up my Apple Watch. Yes, I have an iPhone and it's essential, too.

@Venezia That makes two of us. I don't need a fancy phone to make one call every 2-3 weeks to tell Wal-Mart I've arrived to pick up my groceries. My TracFone serves that purpose perfectly.

@Runner26 Interesting that the watch has "fall detection." Can it also place a call to someone in an emergency? I'm wondering if it could replace the medical alert system we have for my mother, who lives alone at 87.

Yes it can. I'm not sure if it would be on the same level as the medical alert system, though.

I have Apple Watch 4 and love it. I would not be without it. Must have? No. Makes my life easier though. Fall detection, workout info, notices from Ring doorbell if working around the property, text alerts, multiple timers for cooking, ping lost iPhone and the list goes on. There are other things I would give up before the Apple Watch.

It is a quick go to when I don't want to carry my plus size iPhone, LM

I have a Fitbit which is synched with my iPhone. It doesn't have fall detection but, it monitors my activity, gets my texts and phone calls. While I can't answer the phone, I get a message a call has come in and the phone number. I don't understand why some people regularly read and post on this board since they seem so anti technology.

@gadgetgal613 - Not wanting an Apple watch or an iPhone doesn't make people anti-technology.

I'm sure the posters on these boards have computers, tablets, android phones, etc.

Everyone chooses what works for him/her. For myself, I have an android phone, a desktop computer, a laptop and an iPad and I wouldn't want to be without any of them. But I still don't need an Apple watch.

And posters are allowed to express their opinions, even if they go against the popular consensus.

@ValuSkr You do need an iphone for the watch. Although if you have young kids you can get them the watch connected to your iphone plan, to be able to communicate with. I would've love that option when kids were young and you don't want them to have a phone but still be able to communicate with them.
