How to get Original Owner Name off my Cell??

I have an HSN/QVC Tracfone Samsung, but I have no idea how to get the original ?owner" name off the phone. So ppl I call see a name calling that is not mine.

How do I replace that "?prior name" off and put my own name there as "caller?"

You should have a Settings app. Click on that and go to About Phone. There should be a section called Phone Name.

@JoyFilled Warrior Both sells "used" cell phones? I would think they would have scrubbed all personal info from the phone prior to selling.

Did they sell this phone "as is?" Is that even legal (leaving personal info on device)?????

Original Owner? What's up with that? All my TracFones I had to register because they were new. Didn't know reputable companies sold cells with other's info on them. Would think that be against some FCC Law.

ETA: Might help if you mentioned the whole history of this phone. The more info the easier it is to help in most cases.

Maybe someone gave or sold the OP their phone when they got a new one? I don't know how you'd get the original owner's name off except to take it back to the original factory settings which would erase everything on it. Then start like it was brand new.

Well, it never showed "his name" on "Settings App, or "Abt Phone," on settings.. But I did manage to type my name in, based on your instructions.

But when I call someone, my name doesnt appear, only my phone number I'm calling from.

Isnt my name supposed to appear to others when I call them?

Also I noticed that Samsung wants me to "Create a Samsung Acct" is that what the problem is?

(Added: I never saw "Phone Name." Cant remember how/why it allowed me to type my name)

Just a thought. Could the caller's name be connected to the phone "number" instead of the phone itself. If so, I would call Tracfone. When their computer assigned the number, that's when the error could have occurred.

This may not be the case with your phone, but we sometimes get refurbished phones if our company phones break or need to be replaced and a new iPhone will be coming out. In that case, the SIM card that's in the refurbished iPhone has to be switched out with the one in my broken phone, or the former owner's (another employee) info is on there.

I'd be calling the company and find out why I got a used phone. The best way to fix this is to do a reset to factory specs.

Our landline Auto Blocking phones, block by the phone number not the name of the caller.

Was/is this a NEW PHONE? Since you say "original owner"! Why did you not send this back to HSN or QVC, which ever company it was purchased?

I have seen brand new Tracfones with 1500/1500/1500 for under $50. As I said in my other post, something is missing in your post. I have had at least 15 different TracFones, and my name was/is the original owner.

Might this phone be owned by someone else that gave it to you when they upgraded? Such suspense over this phone.

Hey, if all else fails call everyone you communicate with and tell them: "when you see Joe Blo on your ID, that is me calling". Can't see why you would care what name, those you don't know, see when you call? He!!, that could be a good thing.
