Facebook blocked

My Facebook account was blocked because someone from another state tried to login....is that going to be a hacking problem for me?

Uhhhh.... someone tried accessing her account. That has nothing to do with running an anti virus and it's nothing that can be stopped by it no matter how many times a qvc host tells you it will.

I once checked Facebook in Florida. Once I came home I had to create a new password, because they thought it might be someone else signing in.

It's blocked because they used the wrong password repeatedly. Could be an attempted hacking, but it also could be that someone with a name similar to yours simply didn't notice they had a typo or error in their user name.

When you reset your password make sure you make it a strong one. Random combinations of letters (upper case and lower), numbers and special characters are the strongest. Next best would be to develop your own substitution system for letters and numbers and special characters that you apply to regular words that you can easily remember.

If you checked Facebook via your smart phone then your IP number would be different and it would appear someone tried to log in from out of state.

I was on my IPad and so it wasn't the IP address but I will get a new password that will be tough to crack...I hope.Thanks to everyone for their help.I just love the people on this forum

Do you know any foreign languages? Pick a complex foreign word, much easier to remember than a bunch of random letters and numbers. Throw in a Number a Cap and a Character and you should pass any strength challenge they throw at you.

Facebook is indeed giving you this kind of notification. Could you get into your Facebook account? Every time you change computers or log in from a different IP you will now get a notification to the email you have on file with them.

Change your password every other week for security. The hackers use accounts to mail out spam. Your friends may be getting spam from you. Haven't heard of anything more serious than that.

If you try too long in with the wrong password 3 times it's blocked. Just change your password.
