@gardenman: Fire Tablet another question?

How to add the today's date on the Fire tablet home page? I checked in setting and can only change the time. The 2nd fire tablet was delivered Thursday and it only took me 47 minutes to install the Google play store app.😁 Your help is always greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Enjoy your weekend.

I don't know if you can put the date on the home page. You have a calendar app that shows the date and you can ask, "Alexa, what's today's date?"

@gardenman : thanks. I thought maybe I over looked something. I haven't set up or whatever you call it - Alexa.

The ESPN App is freezing while DH trying to watch the Georgia game on the fire tablet and I don't know what to do. I will probably try to delete and reinstall the app later.

Another solution is to use your newly installed google play store to download a small app called date in status bar; install it and then execute it. It will place the day of the week over top of the numerical date in the status bar. It is very small but does remain onscreen until you reboot...then you need to execute it again to have it displayed. Not very satisfying but maybe someone will create a better solution!

Also swiping down twice on notification bar (top of device) will display the date you are looking for, but it does NOT remain on home page.

My Fire has "Sat. Oct 15 7:01" on the opening page!

Amazon had refurb 10" Fire tablets on sale the other day for $54.99 so I broke down and bought one. I like my eight-inch ones, but the price was too good to pass up and I've had good success with refurb stuff before. And hey, you can't have too many tablets. It's coming today. I'll add the Google Play Store to it and go from there.

@gardenman : It's great and DH prefers the few inches longer when watching Thursday Night Football on the fire tablet. Enjoy.

Glad you found the app useful. I've been using it on both of my fire tablets ever since you started looking for it; I like to be able to see the date even when I play games.

By the way my experience recently has been that the battery time on the fire tablets is much better than on my beloved iPad tablets, especially since I'm spending more time using streaming services these days. Since I dropped my expensive cable service I rarely turn on my television setI Less charging time is a real plus for me!

@Buster43 :I can't see the date while playing games. I have noticed the difference in battery life and charging time.
