Sillee Mee, My computer is 6 years old. I got it for a very good price at Costco years ago so paying to have it fixed was worth it. I just checked my speed on the other side of the house and it's 199, that's really fast for me. The repair man said he checked the whole computer out and found nothing wrong with it except it had errors. Said my hard drive was good, they asked if I wanted to change to a SS but since I know it won't be supported more than 2 years I declined. Now I'll be looking for a new one just in case this goes out again so I'll know what to buy. I'm the type of person that I have to check things out and not buy anything. I'm looking for a new TV for the bedroom also since mine is maybe 8 years and know someday I'll need a new one. It has such a beautiful picture I hate to have to replace it. My husband still uses his Dell from 2010 and the battery is still 3 hours when charged. I asked him if wanted a new one and he said no. I had to use it several times while mine was gone and it's heavy and slow. I have the same one and it will power up but the mouse doesn't work even using a corded mouse. I asked the repairman about that and he said he never heard about that problem. I want to get my photos out of it and he said I can do it without having to use the mouse so will do that.

Saturday I noticed that my computer was running slow. I cleaned it out and ran scans and nothing showed up. Then I went into programs looking to see if any new programs installed about that time. I did find Microsoft 365-es-u on 5/28, 0.99 GB, 16.015226.2... on 5/28. I didn't put it in and was wondering if Microsoft could of put it in but thought it was a subscription. I thought of taking it out but it said if it's taken out of programs that it can't be put back in. I suspect this may be slowing down my computer. When I hit a site on my toolbar the computer goes to it but then there is a small blue dot along the page I want. I assume this is slow downloading of the page. Anyone else have this problem. I thought the 365 was like office and student I had on my old computer. Any thoughts?

Did you clear your history, cache and cookies? Have you run a virus scan? If not do that and then turn off your computer for a minute. Hopefully, it'll help.

I did clean everything out and ran Ccleaner which was fine. I did a search to see if others were having problems but nothing. I even reset my modem thinking there could of been a problem. Still the same after doing that. My computer usually loads fast but now it reminds me of almost dial up. Hope when I get home later it will all work fine. Wondering about the 365 install. I checked my security also and said it's fine.

Whenever your Windows computer slows down, Task Manager is your best friend. It'll show you where the problem lies. If you launch Task Manager and click on the "Performance" tab, you can see exactly what's going on with your computer at that moment.

As I'm typing this, my CPU usage is at 2%-4% and running at 3.55-4.09 GHz. I'm using 25% of my memory (7.7 of 31.4 GBs.) Neither hard disk is currently doing anything. My ethernet is just sitting there waiting for it to be needed, and my GPU is running at 0%-2% and at 32 degrees Celsius.

On the Processes tab, I have two things using most of the resources. Edge (which I'm using as my web browser,) and Kindle Create (as I'm preparing book five in my Sara X Series for publication.)

Suffice to say my computer is not being slowed down in the least. If it was, I could see where (CPU, GPU, Memory, hard drives, programs, processes, etc.) and take corrective actions to fix the issue.

When your computer is running slow, first, reboot it, then if it's still slow, go to Task Manager and see why it's running slow. The answer is typically there. A memory stick could have failed. Your hard drive could be at or near capacity. Or there's a rogue app/program eating resources. Task Manager is your best friend when it comes to troubleshooting a slow computer.

Also, reset your wifi router by unplugging the power cord from the wall outlet, wait about 15 seconds and then plug it back into the wall. That will clear out unnecessary data which accumulates inside the router over time and will update the router software itself to provide the best performance and secuity. That unnecessary data can cause a breach in your wifi network and leaving it inside your router can give crooks a way into your electronics. Reboot time will vary but it should only take a couple of minutes. Resetting a router should be part of a normal maintenance routine. I reset mine at least once weekly.

I just did a reboot and something came up about GDI telementry or something similar and said it was preventing shutdown. I didn't get the whole thing so tried to reboot again and it didn't show this time. It disappeared before I could see what to do, there was more but I didn't see it. I did a search and apparently it's from windows. I hope I can figure it out. I did have a comcast person out a few weeks ago and he told me I don't have to pull the plug out on the modem, said just to pull the cord out of the back once a month for a few minutes. I will check the CPU later, I did the other day and it was fine but will check.

Another things a few days ago I copied some info and downloaded it. I see that in downloads it has the big Windows W on, I opened it and it took me to Windows 365 on Edge. Never saw the big W on any downloads.

You'll pay a lot of money for something you can do yourself. Does Windows still have system restore? If so, pick, a date before the problem started. The other thing, turn off auto updates. You'll get a notice, I do with my Mac, there are updates and you can decide whether to update or not.

You can download and install the Visual C++ package from Microsoft and it should fix that issue. It's typically a very easy fix.

I picked up my computer today and my speed is a lot better and higher. They had to replace the palmrest, DC jack and battery The pins cracked the plastic where it was plugged in. When I left it they plugged it in and their charger had the same error as mine at home so I knew it wasn't my charger. They did take the restore back to April, I did it to May but it didn't work. There were two errors in the computer but they didn't say how they fixed it other than the restore. It did cost more than I wanted to pay but it seems to work like new. My speed by the modem was 366 on the battery and in the room I use 80 feet away it's 170 plugged in. I'm happy I took it there because the CS was good and the warranty on parts. The right side of the mouse was sagging and was told that was because of the battery which is below it and hasn't worked for a few years. I had been looking at new computers but would like to wait and get a new one when Windows 10 isn't supported anymore. Hopefully everything works fine until then. I wish I could shadow someone at the repair shop and learn more about computers.

I also have looking for a new computer as my HP is 5 years old. I just ordered a HP Windows 11 (already installed on it) with 512 SSD,12 GB ram, 15". laptop with a backlit keyboard at Staples online. I didn't want a touch screen. It is in silver and cost $669.00 on sale. It was selling for over $900.00 so I kept watching for a sale. It is on sale all this week.
Since I have a Staples card (not a credit card) I get 5% rewards on their site, I used my own credit card and got a reward of 2%, and a 2% through Mr. Rebates. It will be here on Thursday this week. It also is Intel i7 11th gen which will work great with the rest of the specs.

I didn't get a choice of a color but it is ok as I just want a new, fast and reliable computer. My HP I have now is a 17" in rose gold and I never used the touch screen at all on it. I like using a mouse.

Just wanted to post as I have looking for a laptop with the specs I wanted as well as a good deal. Can't wait to get it.

I bought an amazing fast new HP 15"computer at Staples a few weeks ago. Here is my review:

I have never had such a great computer. It cost $669.00 on sale but was worth every penny. It starts up in about 5 seconds after entering your password. The screen goes off when you close the lid and opens back up in a second when opened. In the setting screen is the shut down app. Windows 11 is nice and user friendly but I did change a few settings to make it my own. The updates downloaded and installed within 5 minutes and my old computer took an hour to download 2 updates and this did 10 updates that fast. Loved that. The sound is great and the screen and webcam are both crystal clear.
You Tube has many great videos to walk you through how to set it to be user friendly.

I have been waiting for the forums to come back up to post this.HP Pavilion 15-eg0167st 15.6" Laptop, Intel Core i7, 12GB Memory, 512GB SSD, Windows 11 Home. You can use a mouse also as I do as I do not like a trackpad.

Hope this helps as the reviews are awesome also on Staples site.

It's incredibly fast and has a fantastic picture and sound. It even has an optical disk drive which is usually not part of many devices these days. I would buy another HP. Mine has been very good to me so far. Glad to see that you are enjoying your new HP.
