      <description>&lt;P&gt;Yes they can go bad but that usually takes a long time for it to happen. How old is your computer?&amp;nbsp; Five years or older is an old computer and probably needs to be replaced anyway.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Make sure the drivers are updated. Also check your system settings for the sound level adjustment.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Yes. &amp;nbsp;My husband had a fairly new laptop and his went. &amp;nbsp;Not all at once but it started when he was using headphones and noticed a scratchy sound. &amp;nbsp;The tech guys came and replaced the speakers.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
