Anyone use Spectrum for their cell provider?

A friend has it. He doesn't like it and is switching to TMobile.

I have zero trust for anything Spectrum tells us. They lure you in with a good value without telling you it's introductory and will go up in six months, or a year. Their current ad for $69 dollars is only for two phones (each) at that price. Sounds like a deal, but it's not really. They fail to mention price of one phone.

Every time I've dealt with them, they've lied to me. Then they claim you should have known better, when called out on it. I find them unscrupulous. Having cable with them is enough for me and outrageously priced.

T-Mobile has some good value plans, too. I switched to them from Sprint (merged with T-Mobile) three months ago and wound up with good discounts, paying $26 per month less, plus I got a nice new iPhone.

Of course you could try Spectrum, since they claim you have no contract, canceling anytime. Just read the fine print. Maybe it would work for you.

I have Spectrum now for my cell service and it's been great.

I was with Sprint (which acquired Nextel years ago) and it worked out well after a bit of adjustment. But then, Tmobile took over Sprint and it became HORRIBLE. I cannot stress that enough.

Anyway, at one point TM sent me a letter that my phone, which wasn't old or anything, would be a brick at the end of the year. It was my opportunity to dump them.

Went to Spectrum to get new phone and new service. My monthly bill for the phone (didn't pay a dime up front) AND the service is $26. That's less than half what I was paying with what ended up being Tmobile. I was, and still am, so glad to be rid of them.

Here's the other good thing - Spectrum mobile is powered by Verizon. That's where I wanted to go when I wanted to dump TMobile but, like you said, the price was just way too high. So now, I get the good service and a great price.

Does the Spectrum Cell service work when power is out? My Tracfone works if it is. My Spectrum home phone is down when power is out due to the modem off.
I would think as long as the cell towers are not down all cell phones should work.

It does. It's not connected to the modem or router at all. It's just normal cell service.

We had a short power outage somewhat recently and I had occasion to need to use my cell phone to let my husband know so that he wouldn't call me on the landline. (I also have Spectrum for landline, cable tv, and internet).

Glad to help! The service is as good as any cell service I've had all these years and if I didn't have to buy a new phone, my monthly was $12-something. I decided that, since it was such a small monthly pmt I'd just go ahead and tack the phone (24pmts) onto the service.

I've had the same cell ph# since 1994 and that was my only concern going in and it was no prob to keep my same #. Service for cable/ph/internet has always been good, as I've been with them since they were called Charter.

Last year my wife switched from Verizon to Spectrum & says 1000 stars! I have a QVC Tracfone in case I break down.
