I bought a different brand of jump starter/charger (from Amazon) and it sure does give me piece of mind! Haven't had to use it yet but I'm so glad I have it.

I also bought what they call an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) and that's a battery backup for my wi-fi router and my laptop. It will keep me continuously connected w/o interruption to the internet plus the thing can recharge my phone and tablet. It will keep me up and running for 72 hours! if I have a power outage for that long which I did just a short time ago. Highly recommend getting a UPS power supply. It also gives me great piece of mind.

How do you keep your wi-fi running when the power goes out?

I finally broke down and bought a Halo charger. It came yesterday and I tried it. The power in my town goes out all the time even if just for a short time. Every time I hear of snow or ice, wind, etc, I panic. I know it won't do a lot but I've tried everything I would use it for, even for just a little bit, and it works. Plus if I or someone else needs a jump start maybe I can help. I guess I'm about the 1,000,001 person to own one according to the Q.

We have two of the Halo car battery chargers with the tire air compressor. We keep one in each car. Fortunately we have never needed the battery charger, but have used the air twice. It works. Before use the unit needs to be charged. It takes a little longer than I expected, but it was not a problem.

Very happy with my Halo. It's about 3 1/2 years old and I've used it for several jumps on my older car. I have bought 2 others as gifts; which were loved. One that has a flashlight, and the other that has the air pump. Mine is just the charger, no extras. Very glad to have it and to be able to give positive feedback on it.

I have the older model HALO Bolt and have used it several times.

Gave my son one for Christmas. Last week he left something plugged into his truck....dead battery. He open his "present" and it started his truck!!! Right out of the box! He had not taken time to charge it yet! He will, he's a believer!

You can buy light units on Amazon that have USB instead of a regular plug. Works well.

Not sure about the Halo, but the jumper I bought said in the instructions to recharge the thing every few months to keep the battery from losing 'juice' permanently which can happen if you don't use it and have it sitting for long periods of time. Whenever I take mine out to recharge it the battery level says it's 100% full. So what I end up doing is turn on the flashlight it has and leave it on for a few minutes, just enough to drop the battery level to 98-99% full. That way it will start recharging again when I go to plug it into the wall. It needs to discharge before it will recharge and that will help keep the jump starter in good shape.
