I am done with Windows 10

Time to buy a new MacBook Pro as these Windows updates are a pain. My Outlook for mail will not email out but I can receive mail. I went on the server and that is all fine and sends emails out. I did the fix on it and everything I found else to try and fix it. The problem seems to be a Port problem has the wrong number needed. Thankfully I have my iPads to use. Sometimes you just like a laptop that has sites you can print from. Some sites do not let you print from your iPad such as Hospital portals when you want to print a test result etc.

I let the rest of the updates on Windows finished and now my Outlook mail screens are messed up. I have the updates Paused for 7 days and it still runs in the background trying to download them.

I never hasp a problem with my MacBook years ago. I just hated it always wanting to run Time Machine. I still have the External drive I used for it.
I may get the MacBook Pro 16" as I am not sure if the MacBook Air would do as much as I may want in the future.

Any suggestions are welcome.

MacAir is pretty robust now! You might have to store on an extenal drive which is easy. I am on my third one and love them. We do have a Pro too but it is heavier.

I gave up on Windows a very long time ago. It is a boon to people who are nerds and like to mess with this stuff--and I got tired of it.

I don't like windows 10 either.

I use my iPad most of the time.

To print somthing....save the screen shot to your iPad in photos, then print the saved screen shot from there.

You can find directions how to save a screen shot online I'd you don't know how.

I bought a new pro last year and love it! I haven't had a windows computer in years. My 3 Apple products, iPhone, iPad and Pro talk to each other and I like having pictures especially on all three.

Thanks to all.

I was just checking out the Apple MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro. They are both very nice and could do what I need. Since I use my iPads all the time I think the 13" would be good for me.

I have taken a snapshot of what I needed before and printed them out but my printer takes awhile printing things. It does do a good job but it is 11 years old. As soon as I use my last three cartridges I am going to update that also. I got a new router a few months ago as that was 11 years old also.

I will be 72 in a few weeks and have money saved so I need to enjoy it now. Within the next few weeks I will have all Apple electronics. Never had a problem with any over the last 10 years of using them.

Next after the MacBook will be an Apple iPhone as Tracfone is now carrying them and I love the Tracfone service here.

@MKR14 I agree with the new Windows 10 update messing up my email. I don't have outlook loaded, only Windows 10 email (don't know how I got rid of Outlook, it just happened). I live in rural Nebraska stuck on Windstream burried copper line, which is pitiful, so it doesn't help that my internet also goes down. I did finally get my emails to load properly, after the update I couldn't get the pictures to load. I have an ipad air with a data plan that will work if nothing else does and I can print to my wireless printer if my wireless router can receive a connection. I am seriously thinking about the ipad pro because I don't actually need a laptop. Good luck

Why not use gmail? I ditched outlook years ago and while outlook has nice features lacking in gmail , gmail is super easy

@jackthebear , my son said the same thing - but I have so many accounts linked to my email address, I would hate to lose it. I guess I'm just old and don't like to change much if it's working.

consider a Chromebook! amazing, lightening fast, minimal bloat. I won't ever go back! I've had a Toshiba, Lenova (didn't like that one) and now my fave: an HP.

you can set up gmail to forward from the old address to new then slowly change your email address

I switched over to a Macbook in 2014 after having several lousy computers that ran Windows. I'll never go back to a PC again.

@jackthebear @I do have a Gmail account and also a Yahoo account.

I have been slowly moving all my info to these as it is easy to access and use. I agree with @new nickname 4 about moving what I have on Outlook.

I DID find the problem with Outlook email on Spectrum. This morning I found that my email was NOT encrypted and sent a test message through and it stated it had fixed it. I was ready to reinstall my Microsoft Office when I got it to work. I did my other Spectrum email account and fixed that to encrypted also. I sent an email out and it went out and my daughter forwarded back to me. Now working. I believe it could have been Spectrum that caused it and not my program.

I am one of those people that won't stop until I figure things out.Being detailed works most of the time.

I am going to get a new MacBook Pro when they update them for September release. I had read they are bringing back a USB slot and I would love that.

I think all the Windows updates are a pain. I have mine on pause but they still run in the background even if I am not installing them.

My HP laptop was so slow I decided to uninstall all the Wild Tangent Games(6of them)the Disney games and a few other things. I also left no icons on the screen other than the Recycle Bin. I did the Disk Cleanup and Clean the System as well as scanning the entire system for errors. Now it runs like new and it is fast to start up again. I figured if it messed up I didn't care.

The only Windows updates after the clean up was for May and June. I get a newsletter Cloudeight Info Ave weekly and it has answers for MacBooks as well as Windows computers. I find how to do things there and they even put photos that walk it through it with you. It also is free.

Microsoft stopped support for Outlook via the application a very long time ago, I thought. Isn't it only web based now? I have a web based outlook email account. Do you have MS Office 365?

I have Microsoft Office 2007 and it still works perfectly on my 3 year HP Windows 10 laptop. I never had a problem with any part of it not working right. Microsoft stopped doing updates to 2007 but I haven't seen any difference in it the last 3 years causing a problem.

I would upgrade but I am not willing to buy it every year. I am hoping they bring it back at least for a one time price and not an every year fee to renew it.

I have Spectrum and I think the problem with my email not being encrypted last week was due to them and not the program. I did the exact thing to try and fix the outgoing mail and I was able to fix it easily the next day. My outgoing mail wouldn't go out but incoming was working fine.

My daughter and a few of my friends run Microsoft Office 7 also with no problem. I don't believe they still sell it but if a friend has a 2007 genuine CD software for it you can install it on Windows 10.
I have the original CD software and I keep it in my computer desk incase I need to reinstall it.

I had a similar problem with Microsoft Office 2007 in 2015. The software became non responsive, I had to remove the program with a tool from Microsoft. I have used Office 365 since 2015.

This program looks after itself. It even provides automatic security and software updates.

You receive 1TB of online storage.

I just am not comfortable using a program without security updates.

I agree about the security but since I use my iPads 90% of the time I usually just dump the mail out that I have read on my iPad. I have kept the HP Laptop because of the DVD drive and needed it to print documents that will not print from my iPad. That is usually doctor's notes or medical record reports from the hospital we go to.

Always nice to get feedback here. I would be lost without my iPads. The hard cases I have a wonderful keyboard but I always find myself typing from the iPad screen.

For those "done with Windows 10" you'll be pleased to hear that Microsoft agrees. On June 24th, they'll be announcing Windows 11. Support for Windows 10 will end in 2025. Will Windows 11 be a free upgrade like Windows 10 was? Probably, seems to be the consensus. Will Windows 11 be better than Windows 10? God only knows. We'll find out more next Thursday. It doesn't look like too radical of a change from the leaked versions circulating on the web. How accurate are the leaked versions? God only knows. We'll find out next week.
