Does anyone own the 'soundbar'? Any comments? Would we like it?

Not sure why in quotes, if you are talking about a soundbar attachment for a TV, if you have an older TV, it could be a good addition. You can hear even subtle sounds -- like background sounds -- with the help of a soundbar.

The newer TVs have surprisingly good speakers compared to the older TVs. I have a newer smart TV but don't need a soundbar.

I have an older TV in another room, I added surround sound and glad I did. The speakers on the TV sound so one dimensional. I purchased it locally, not from Q

I bought a soundbar for my wife's bedroom a few years ago. I've been an audio guy since the early 1950's and I want " true sound", not sound simulated to sound like it is, when in fact it is not.

If you're interest is only to have "true 2 channel" audio separation, even the cheapest of sound bars can give "Left Channel/Right Channel" separation.

Now if you're more interested in an "immersive sound(synthesized surround sound)", that is a much different story. I can't name one because I have never found/heard one that satisfied me. But I admit that I want as close to audio perfection as possible by my hearing standards.

As for a brand? The soundbar I bought for my wife's room? She wanted 2-channel and I bought one the does that well, but! When I go into her room that soundbar is seldom turned on. Why? I don't even ask my wife because to her sound is not that important to her.

I dont own one and never will In my opinion its not necessary and another money grab. We iived without them for 50 years.

In my opinion!

Most tv sets no sound can be used to watch any show. Just click on "CC" and you can read all the dialogue. Hmm, wonder why TV manufacturers didn't think of that?

50 years and you are happy! Great, do you also prefer monophonic sound. Unfortunately the TV sets nowadays don't have that option, not any newer one. If you're happy without a soundbar that's fine with me.

"Another money grab"? Didn't know anyone was coerced into buying one. I am an audiophile and a great movie to me stinks, unless it has the top level Surround Sound, I could name them, but will spare you.

I wonder do you still have a Standard Definition TV set or have you moved up to High Definition(HD). Some people think SD is just fine, it's only a TV show right?

And then there is those danged $1200 Cell Phones! But, nobody needs them, I have gotten along without 1 since they first were introduced to the retail market. What a "RIP off/money grab).

Don't get the purpose of your post, but I am sure you don't get the purpose of this one I am typing.

I believe the original question was related to the ZVOX sound bar which was featured last weekend. I would be interested in feedback as well. I have a great surround sound system but I have to admit there are times I have difficulty distinguishing dialog which isn't helped by just increasing the volume. The ZVOX sound bar is supposed to assist with that. Can anyone provide feedback to their claims?

I was 1 of the first to reply to this post. If I had seen ZVOX, I would have given a different reply. Since I am an audiophile guy, and heard so much about ZVOX, I decided to try one.

It was ZVOX-AV100. It was smaller in width than some of the others, and was said to have the most updated electronics aboard. Think it was about 11" in width.

I hooked it up and was sadly disappointed, nut not surprised. My 65" Samsung TV has much better sound choices than that specific ZVOX AV100. Did it boost the dialogue voice to the front? Yes, but! It almost completely removed ALL the background sounds.

Guess if a person doesn't want any background music or sounds, maybe they are ok with it. Me? I have been into Surround Sound even before there was true stereo sound. That was back in the 1950's.

That is my experience with the ZVOX-AV100 model. As far as the wider/bigger and ,more expensive ones? I don't know, but the one I tried was worthless to me. I think it was $99. Just looked it is the ZVOX-AV100 model at $169.99 free shipping.
