I'm I The Only One That Get Frustrated With Electronics??

I had a basic flip phone for many years, never had a problem with it - it was so easy to use.

Then I decided I should upgrade so that I could take and send pictures, have access to maps, the Internet, etc. so I got a Tracfone. It's been a few years now since I purchased the phone, and I'm getting messages that I need to upgrade to a new version - I think a 4G??...something like that.

So before I call Tracfone to transfer to a new phone I thought I better transfer my pictures from the phone to the chromebook. Oh my, I did it once about a year ago and it was so easy. This year not so. It must of taken me about 3 - 4 hours to try to figure out what to do.

Then when I looked at my phone, I had two sets of each picture. Some how in addition to coping on my computer, it got transfered to my phone again too so I had double pictures. So, I deleted all of the extra copies.

Today I took out my phone and I was missing about 1/3 of my pictures. So I started to Google, how to transfer from Chromebook to Android. It sounded too difficult for me, so I just figured well even though the pictures are no longer on the phone,at least they are on the computer.

A little while later when I looked at the phone, the pictures were there.

UGH.....I hate electronics. I'm in my 60's, don't have any adult children that can help me, so I just try to figure out stuff on my own....but I HATE it.

Is there anyone else that feels the same???

Yes! I do not have a "smartphone" and dread the day when one will be required to do simple transactions. I've lived 70 years very happily without all these electronics which, IMO, mostly do not make like easier just more complicated--LOL!!!

A few months ago I got a new iPod and turned it on.

It instantly sensed that I was cheating on my iPhone and told me to lay it down under the phone, give them a moment, and they would fix my world. A blue ball and the camera were involved, I kid you not.

Like with the new washers, all you can do is step back slowly.

I am also in my 60's and love electronics. I love when I can get a new phone and play with it. I'm looking forward to the new 5G iPhone. Yes it can sometimes be a bit frustrating but I've never had a problem with technology. Maybe because all my jobs required a computer and I find it fun to play and experiment.

I too still have my flip phone and am hanging on to it for dear life - I rarely use my cell and never do anything but text now and then.

It is holding its charge less now and I've been hoping each morning it is srill functioning.

I LOVED my Tracfone flipphone. One day I couldn't get service from my home and was told I had to upgrade to a 4G - a smart phone. So I HAD to switch. But I hate the thing!

Absolutely not. BYW, I'm in my sixties and it's not old! I am a very logical thinker and using computers and other devices came easy to me. But, you don't have to be that way to learn the basics. Most of my friends and family who have problems never bothered to learn. I'm not saying you're that way but, I most people are.

Next time go to YouTube and search for videos which will show you step by step instructions before attempting to do anything new. That's what I do when I need help. I fixed a mortise lock years ago by finding instructions online. Not only did I fixed it, I save a lot of money by not taking it into a locksmith.

I'm 61 and while sometimes electronics can get frustrating (my smartphone recently stopped making or accepting calls after an upgrade, I fixed it though) the good far outweighs the frustration. Take a smartphone for example. In one small device that fits in your pocket you get a phone, camera, camcorder, mp-3 player, GPS, mini-computer, calendar, watch, stopwatch, timer, flashlight, FM radio, and more. That's kind of impressive. You pretty much need a suitcase to pack all of that if you take individual devices, but a smartphone does all of that, and does them all well, in a device you can just slip into your pocket and that starts at well below $100. (You can pay a lot more though also.)

Technology doesn't scare me. I like it. I'm always open to learning new things. I find it fun. The learning curve doesn't really bother me. I know that I'll eventually figure out how something works. Just dive in, watch online instructions/tutorials, and play with whatever you get. The "play with whatever you get" approach is almost mandatory these days as pretty much nothing comes with comprehensive manuals. I just got a Nintendo Switch a couple of weeks ago and other than the basic setup instructions printed on the box, there was nothing. I just started playing around with it and found out how to adjust picture size, create a Mii, and much, much more.

Playing with a new device is often the best way to learn more about it. "I wonder what this does? Let's find out!" is often your best way to learn stuff. You're very unlikely to do anything irreversible, so play with the device and learn it's mysteries. Just sitting there staring at it in terror thinking it's too complicated doesn't achieve anything, so point, click, swipe and see what happens. Shockingly enough, you'll find yourself learning more about the device.

I am all for learning new things, but not about things I have no interest in.

I have a Consumer Cellular flip phone which I only use for emergency calls (not often) and texting. It's more of a texter than a phone for me. It has no email capability or internet, etc...just a phone - 3G - I believe. I am happy with that.

If people find smart phones and computers lots of fun to play with - good for them - not me. I'd rather go fly a kite.

I am 73 years young. Age has nothing to do with being tech savvy or getting frustrated when trying to complete a task.

Last week I changed the security software in my tablet. It took a little work, and I do not have ads.

Been into electronics since I was 15 years old, some 66 years ago. Didn't get into computers until I retired. Liked every technological advance, except mobile phones.

It eventually has taken over way too many people's lives nowadays. Decades before the virus talking face to face was long gone. Even hard to carry on a conversation with a lot of people, faces too buried in their phones.

I have a smart phone but haven't had it turned on since, I think February. Bought it as a "just in case" device. No text, no nothing but talk, which is very, very seldom.

One thing I can tell you about electronics because it's been this way since the '60's. It is always changing and I doubt that will change in my lifetime. It all depends on if a person wants to keep up, but the manufacturers don't make it any easier for the consumers.

Tracfone and it's wireless partners are shutting down older networks.
These will be re-purposed for 5G service.
This is why you need a new phone.

I have a flip phone that I have no complaints about the phone itself, but was on the verge of switching from Verizon (about $40 a month) to Pure Talk (allegedly $20 a month) to save money.

Just got email from QVC about Samsung smartphone via Tracfone $79.96 presale. Even cheaper, but I'll have to learn something new, and I don't want to learn anything new.

Well, I ordered it.

Have I made a mistake?

I just turned 80 and i'm loving my Moto g7 tracfone.

But somethings on it doesn't intrest me so i just use whatever i want.

One question to whoever would like to answer..

Do you think the tracfones will ever go back to a smaller size???..

Mine is 6.2 inches and takes up space in my purse when i go shopping wish it was a maybe 5 inches?

In February I purchased the phone that you just purchased. That's why I was in the process of saving my pictures from my old phone to the computer as I wanted to have them saved just in case something happens when I transfer from one phone to the other.

I had to return the phone you just purchased. I had never even had a chance yet to activate it. I was not able to charge it. It was like something got stuck in the hole where you need to place the cord to charge it. I kept trying and trying, I used numerous cords but never could get it in.

Called Tracfone as it has a 1 year warranty. They told me to call QVC as I purchased it from them. The QVC rep told me I could return it even though I had purchased it in February as it had a 1 year warranty and is defective.

I hope it was just "my luck" to get a defective phone. Hope yours works out good for you.

Smartphones in general are getting larger. They will not get smaller.

The A10e is a small phone, with only basic cameras. Your current phone may have better specs.

An IPhone SE 2020 is a compact phone with great specs. You could use this device for 5 years. Apple will support this product a long time.

I wish Samsung would support the S and Note phones for longer than three systems upgrades.

I am not happy the way Samsung treats the budget and mid- level customer. Some phones only get quarterly security patches and no system upgrades.

This is the market segment where Samsung makes most of their revenue.

My moto g7 has updated mine at least 2x since i bought it in June.

I think i will keep buying this phone if and whenever i need another one in a few years.

I don't use the finger print or face reconition on mine...maybe that's why i haven't had a problems being locked out,

I feel your pain. I have had a cellphone since 1993. Back then all you carried it a bag, could only make calls and paid .39 cents a minute for the calls.

I have been thru several up grades and they were fine until I got an Android phone. These days I am totally lost trying to use apps. Give me a desk top or a laptop with some old fashioned software and I'm a pro. I love technology but not "little" technology.

These days if I need help I ask a kid.

I'm almost 65 and it is hard to keep up....

I recently got a new Samsung Galaxy S-10 phone. Instead of going to the Verizon store, I ordered it online and set it up myself. It was a little unnerving when I transfered over all my pictures and apps on my old phone to my new phone....but I did it!

Hubbs has a hard tiem and usually brings me his electronic stuff to 'fix'...

Last night he said the Fire stick wasn't working. After we rebooted it, he showed me that he couldn't get off the main screen. The remote needed new batteries.....but he gets so frustrated when something won't work that he doesn't think it might be something like new batteries...
