Don't update yet. There's an article explaining huge issue with the newest update. Check online to see if you feel confident updating. By the way, I have no idea what boot loops and media playback are.

From Forbes

"Alongside growing reports of high battery drain, Apple customer support has confirmed to users that iPadOS can cause boot loops on the iPad Pro and media playback of the hugely popular MP4/MPEG-4 container format is broken for both iPad and iPhone owners.

06/02 Update: As expected, Apple has now released 13.5.1Unfortunately, it does not address either of the problems listed above with users confirming to me that their devices still have broken MP4 playback and, in the case of iPadOS 13.5.1, that iPads reset and updated still suffer from bootloops after the update. So what is in iOS 13.5.1? It contains an urgent fix for the major in over jailbreak. This was clearly a fast tracked release since it contains no other patches and, while jailbreak fans were thrilled, the vulnerability unc0ver exploits carries the risk of being exploited for less positive gains. My iOS 13.5.1 upgrade guide will go live tonight, once I have enough feedback regarding any new problems it may introduce. So, for now, watch this space"

A boot loop means that the computer never fully boots (starts up) and gets stuck. Computers are typically sequential devices working step by step, but programs can hop back in the sequence given certain conditions and do things again. This is called a loop. A planned for loop typically has conditions that have to be met for the loop to end. If X equals or is greater than Y goto Z. If X is less than Y then go back and repeat.

An unplanned for loop, like what some Apple users are experiencing, never ends. In the above example X is never equal to or greater than Y and it gets caught in the loop that never ends. It just keeps repeating the same steps without ever meeting the condition to move on. The only way to stop the loop is by shutting down the device (if you can) but since the software issue starts on boot up, it recurs immediately. The possibility of an endless loop is why Windows computers have reset buttons and "safe modes" where they can be started with minimal software to allow one to fix the issue should it occur. (I don't think a boot loop has occurred in Windows.)

Boot loops really shouldn't happen these days, but sometimes programmers screw up. A boot loop is a fairly major screw up. Someone, likely multiple someone's will likely lose their job as a result of an issue with a boot loop. Endless loops are a programmer's nightmare. An endless boot loop is especially annoying as you need the computer to boot to fix the issue, but it can't boot due to the loop. Boot loops are a big problem.
