Looking for VPN advice

I've been watching TV shows on ustvgo.tv for a few weeks, mostly for the History Channel. I'm now getting this message: This channel requires VPN to watch!

If you have experience with a VPN, any recommendations?

I went to that site. You must be trying to access a station/channel that you normally have no access to - paid premium channel.

That pop up you got is an ad for a paid VPN service. Hope you did not click on it. There are free ones out there........

You must research the above as well as what VPNs actually do.

If you want to pay for one, I strongly urge you to do your OWN research to find the one(s) that is best for your needs. VPNs are not a 1 fit all type of software.

Also, check out the VPNs that offer LIFETIME subscriptoins for under $50.

Thanks, @Mz iMac. I've been watching the History Channel for weeks, and just got the VPN message for the first time yesterday. I checked some other channels offered, and most allow normal viewing. The USA channel has the same VPN message. Go figure.

From what little research I've done, a VPN seems like a good idea, but I really had no idea where to start. I'll definitely check out the VPNs you listed.

I use Private Internet Access. They're a paid service, but it's not terribly expensive. I haven't had any issues using them. They have apps for my Chromebook, Fire Tablet, Android phone, and even my Fire TV.

The History Channel has a nice app. You can view most of the programming shown on the TV.

I agree, @Nuttmeg , the History app is very good. I used it often until I cancelled my cable TV service last year and lost their access to the app.

I now use youtubetv for most TV viewing, which doesn't offer the History channel in it's lineup, so there's no access through them. Ustvgo was a welcome option until the VPN issue arose!

I have a Norton VPN app on my phone and tablet tablet.

You can not use this VPN to watch any streaming services. You have to shut it down.

During a software patch on my table, I found a Secure Wi-Fi app. It is just a secure tunnel. You can not change the settings or anything. It doesn't change the connection speed but it will work with a streaming service.
