Maybe because so many people are working from home and the computers they own aren't up to par?

People working from home, students schooling online at home...
Some school systems are providing laptops for their students, therefore bulk orders.
Maybe some upgrading too.

Because most are made, or parts are made, 'over there' and maybe they have stopped production, causing the shortage.

I was online with Apple trying to get a new laptop for that very reason. I had one in my cart and then when the announcement came that they were closing all of the Apple stores, the delivery date on the one in my cart jumped to early April. I went to Best Buy and got the last one available in the size that I needed. I'm sure computer sales have been very high in the last two weeks.

went out today and big lines at best buy for desk top computers.

they said they need them to work at home for the coming months.

On March 17, I was on my way from Arizona to California to pickup Grands, when I noticed Amazon had their Fire 8 on sale for $45 so I bought two.

You will like them. Very good quality at 80 dollars so 45 dollars for the fire 8 inch is a terrific deal. What colors did you get? I have the blue and a 7 inch in mauve color.
