Fire 10 Tablet

I have a question. I was gifted this tablet for Christmas. I also have a Samsung 9+ phone. Is there anyway that I can transfer things from my phone to the tablet?

I am also finding it frustrating that the apps I have on my phone. I cant find on the appstore on the tablet. Like the Ring app for one. Why is this since they are both google?

Fire tablets are made by Amazon and favor their products. You can easily transfer photos from other sources (call Amazon help for assistance).

The Fire OS restricts you to Amazon's apps rather letting you see all Google apps for androids.

You will need to install Google's Play Store.

Amazon has its own version of Android - it's not quite the same as what you have on Samsung. I think you have to use the apps on the Amazon website. In order to use the google play store, you would have to hack your tablet.

I've been looking at this tablet quite a bit. I think it's great if you get most of your books and videos from Amazon, but I normallly use overdrive and a few public libraries. I don't believe wireless printing is available on it. And the Carnival cruise app does not work with it. It's rated as one of the best tablets for media with a great price - which makes it so tempting.

I think when you do that, then you void out the warranty. But if that doesn't matter to you then feel free to do it. I did that with my Fire and it was pretty easy to do.

@cindyNC, Overdrive is available through Amazon Apps. My understanding is that wireless printing is available, you might have to download the manufacturer's app. I haven't tried it. I only use my Amazon 8" Fire for Overdrive when the book I want isn't available through Kindle format just ePub.

I used an app called "Transfer Wizard" to transfer data from one device to another. You have to download it to both devices but it worked fast and flawlessly.. Does the Amazon tablet use the Play store from which to download apps? I know the Ring app is on the Play store.

The new Fire 10 Tablet runs an Amazon version of Android Pie.. This OS can be modified to run the Google Play store apps.

@Nuttmeg. I had a small 7 or 8" Amazon tablet 4 or 5 years ago and hated the darn thing. I'm accustomed to standard Android and didn't care for their version or their ads at all. I don't even know where it is today.

I use public libraries and Overdrive on my Fire 10. Am also able to use wireless printing.

My little 7" Fire was so slow and the battery would not last long on a charge. I put it away an bought me a Chromebook laptop which converts to a tablet and it has Google Play so I can use it just like any other android tablet...it's a true hybrid device and I love it.

@cindyNC : You can print wirelessly on Fire (I have to use Mopia); it works great! I current have a Fire 8 and a Fire 10. They seem to work for all my recreational uses; DH does spreadsheets at tax time and we use our laptop for that. I've used Fire tablets on Royal Carribean and Celebrity.

I was surprised that my DH brought me the pixle Chrome book this year for my Bday and for a Xmas present as my B-day is close to Xmas. I just love it. I also have my Acer spin 11 inch that I am using in the meanwhile because it works so well. I have the fire tablet 7 inch which I still use Alexa on it to wake us up in the morning and get the traffic in the morning and some cooking recipes and a timer and other things so you see you can still get use on the tablet. I brought several 8 inch tablets as gifts this year and they were a big hit. and hands free Alexa is great! Happy New Year!

The easiest thing to do would be to upload all your files from your phone to a cloud storage service like OneDrive or DropBox or Google Drive. And then access them on the Fire tablet. You put the cloud storage app on both devices.

On the Amazon website, under the banner across the top of page,

there should be a choice called HELP FORUMS.

I helped out there when the forum first started...for about a year.

But then I got the Gen6 Ipad and gave away all my K/Fires,

except 2/HDXs and the first version of the 6”. All still have the

Carousel, which I loved!

They have a clean, user-friendly interface, unlike the totally revamped OS

they installed on the Fires (since 2014 or 15?)

They’ve improved all sizes of the Fires now and for me, the 8” was the *Goldilocks” size. Perfect size, speed, screen......and I added a cheap

3-year Warranty.

Sometimes the 8” is On Sale for $49.

off topic, but has anyone else had trouble getting the free case that came with this? I used the code to order and have not received the case or an answer to my question about my order thru the caseable website.. still waiting

I ordered a Kindle Fire 10" a couple of years back from QVC, it came with a voucher for a free case from Caseable. It took forever to get the case, it was flimsy, I ended up buying a better case from Amazon. I remember at the time people were complaining to QVC, frankly I'm surprised QVC didn't cut ties with them.
