Has anyone had success installing the Bookshout app? I have an older Kindle Fire HD and I cannot find the app in the app store. I am offered free books through this app but am beginning to think I will need to read from my laptop.

I don't know what Bookshout is. I went to their website and read the home page and still don't know. They need an About Us link. It looks like they sell books and have some free books. If they sell books, makes sense that Amazon would not have their app in their Fire app store.

If you want opportunities to read free books on a Kindle, sign up for Freebooksy. I get an almost daily email with books I can get for free. When you sign up, it lets you select genres you're interested in. Some are awful, but I've read some that have been quite enjoyable.

There is a free app you can use on kindle thru your public library. You will NOT be limited to just what is in their building. Free free free. At least 50,000 titles.

I do get many of my books through the library, but my Wall Street Journal subscription allows one free book per month, offered through Bookshout! I seem to be able to access on my laptop through WSJ so I will just read off that.

Do they have a regular website? If so, navigate there on your Kindle and see if you can download the app from the website. If not, you might be out of luck. Kindle play stores do not have every app available.
